Yeah, definitely good to make sure whether or not the suicidal person is “okay.”
How else would you know?
Dark humor aside, the correct first response is generally just to let them know you are there and ready to support them however they need. Encourage them to seek help.
The correct first response when someone has past the point of hiding it is NOT to just say your there for them
Its to go FUCKING TO THEM AND ACTUALLY BE THERE.
This said as someone who's tried twice. People just mouthing the fucking words "I'm here if you need" is what drove me to one attempt. Its a meaningless worth set of words that does nothing.
Its just further enforcing the fact no ones actually there to help and it's all just charades so people can feel better about themselves.
Cause if they actually cared they would come actually try to stop me right? No one ever did.
Its fucking WORTHLESS to say shit. Saying shit is free. Go FUCKING be there for people. Connections are the only thing that keep us tethered. Make them worth holding on to and not sure fleating worthless shitty fucking empty words.
What would you recommend for somebody for which going to be with them physically is not an option?
Hope you’re in a better place these days.
