Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
- Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Shotguns with 1oz slugs transfer enough force that even if they hit armor capable of stopping it, it can cave in a chest cavity and leave someone slowly suffocating.

You have a point. I’m a natural born citizen, no criminal history, the “right” skin color, and a few other accolades that wouldn’t make me the ideal target. Which is exactly why if I ever AM a target I can say with 100% certainty the above action is the correct one. If I’m being stormed, the likelihood of anyone in my home at the time surviving to tell their side is negligible enough to be nil, so time to go out swinging.

If you have a family and you were expecting ICE to come after you, you'd probably be most likely to see your family again if you fight it legally, instead of trying to shoot your way out. Now, if you have nothing left to lose, then that could be a different story.

Due force is exactly what you ridiculed the other guy for saying he'd use, and if you won't meet a home invader with what you call due force then your "should" here loses a lot of weight. The rest of your comment is answering something I didn't say; your limits are your own.
But yes, it's bananapants fuckballs insane that this is relevant conversation in America right now.
I'm saying that in a theoretical sense, everyone would like to think they would use their firearms to defend their family against a bunch masked men working for a fascist regime. The reality is much more difficult when it comes to how much you have to lose. Everyone is different I guess.
How do you fight something legally with no due process?
Right now, in May 2026, there is due process for most people. That's obviously still a huge erosion to the Constitution and cause for emergency, as they are just continuing to go down that route, BUT I believe there is still a semblance of due process. All the hopeless doomers don't understand the day to day processes are still going, and the news is amplifying the cases where due process has not been followed. Again I'm not saying that's "fine", just that if I were personally disappeared right now, I'm not going out guns blazing in that moment because my chances of seeing my family again are higher if I go peacefully.
Now, if we have this same conversation again in May 2027, after they've cancelled midterms, Republicans illegally remained in power, and they go full end stage fascism, that would be a different set of circumstances and appropriate responses.
