"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

You would think a federal department would at least check to make sure the flag patch isn't on backwards. The blue field should be leading in the direction of forward movement, dipshits.

You can wear the flag any way you want, assuming you aren't in the military and in uniform.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Sure, you can, but that doesn't make it respectful.

americans are obsessed with their nazi rag.
Have to slap it on everything.
Imagine not having one on your plumber uniform or karate kimono.

Apparently not obsessed enough to make sure it isn't backwards.

They can be obsessed and stupid at the same time.
Certainly not uncommon

I've seen it either way. That's the least problematic part of this whole thing.

It's in the actual Flag Code, which the federal government should care about. A lot of pop-culture gets it wrong because it looks bad to people that don't really know any better. Of course that's why the AI got it wrong, because it was trained on TV shows instead of the actual regs.

I actually can't find anything in the flag code about that. I find a lot of other organizations citing the flag code, and purporting that same point though.

I'm in the military. In the uniform regs it dictates what you're saying. But that's not the flag code.

This doesn't look like it's depicting the military though... Also, pop culture influence doesn't make it a bad thing IMO. Being lazy and avoiding paying artists to produce slop is. Especially when this is supposedly the party of "hard work" and "bootstraps"
