As a teen I’d bury myself in fiction books to do this. Now, it’s an exercise to find anything engaging and not lowest common denominator writing, so it’s not that easy.
Young adult pseudo romance infesting every genre and Bezos exclusives keeping books off the library e-shelf arent helping. And why does the bulk of scifi have to be military, now?
You should start writing some books that are more appealing to you to read! Maybe you'll even manage to write your favorite book someday that you'll enjoy reading over and over again.
