Two simple truths:
I also found it very out of touch that he said this on Memorial Day a holiday that’s not really religious, but it is Meant to show respect to those who serve and sacrificed for this country.
I used to be a live and let live "They're not hurting anybody", kinda person about religion. Used to get into debates with Reddit Atheists about it.
The MAGA cult killed that part of me. Religion should not be tolerated as its effect on humanity is a net negative, all it is, is denying science.
My family is in the lodging and motel business, and we would get unhoused guests occasionally. One time, my brother offered a free room for a Vietnam vet, but the man said he doesn't want anything for free. Americans do terrible war crimes in every war, but I don't think any disabled person or elderly deserves to die like that.
