Exactly. The pattern is:

  1. Liberals force through an unelectable candidate that cannot cater to American voters.
  2. Progressives point out, "hey, this candidate is unelectable, they're going to lose. We should choose someone that isn't awful."
  3. Liberals scream, "Shut the hell up. We're the adults in the room. They're centrist; by definition are more electable!"
  4. Progressives hold their nose and vote for the liberal shit stain anyway.
  5. Liberal shit stain loses despite massively winning the progressive vote.
  6. Liberals spend the next four years blaming their failures on progressives.

Yup. Except that “liberals” are center right corporatists that are not popular and have terribly policy ideas that no one supports.

Republicans are right-wing to far right nationalists with similar corporatist policies.

While “progressives” barely register as left on the spectrum, and their policies are not well supported by the corporatists and they have no spine.

The resulting “governance” is basically pretending to try and pass legislation until the corporate overlords threaten to fund their opponents and the policy disappears. They get to say “they tried” while still getting a paycheck and continuing to take corporate money for reelections.
