I agree that there is a fraction that fall in that camp. I think the human emotional spectrum is very wide, and it's important to approach sensitive subjects with a more profound sense of humility than the person you're trying to win over-- staying true to yourself throughout the process. I believe the boltzmann curve on this would have the same fraction that falls into that camp (who would change their views in response to tie cuts) see an equal but opposite reflection on the other side of the curve where they'd equally cut you off as unworthy of discussing anything with simply because you cut ties over politics. So it really goes both ways, in my view of human emotions and disagreement discussion.
