It’s been a thing in some small internet circles.

I never hear anyone in the real world say “ugh, Uncle Fred wouldn’t shut up at Thanksgiving. He’s super Blue MAGA now.”

And I arguably live in one of the most liberal cities in the US. Super progressive protests and decorating our windows with woke signs is our idea of recreation.

Well "one of the most liberal cities in the US" would be more likely to be full of Blue MAGA than people opposed to it. There isn't really a way to determine the "most communist cities in the US", but that's where you'll find people who've been using the term for years.

I mean liberal in the sense of liberty, equality, and progressive reform.

But, the city and county have a long history of people electing socialists into public office.

Then idk what to tell you. I've been hearing it IRL and online for more than a decade now used to refer to the "Blue No Matter Who" types that tried to say anyone with concerns about Copmala's record as a crooked prosecutor or her enthusiastic support for a US funded genocide was secretly a Russian bot trying to boost Trump's chances.

IMO, when people say “blue no matter who,” that basically means, “don’t let the MAGAs get 50.1% of the vote in a general election.” That’s how you get jackboot ICE agents rolling around and authoritarians plotting coups.

People try to get really progressive candidates on the ballot as a 3rd party, and unless you have ranked choice, that’s a really bad idea in races where a MAGA candidate could win or lose by a few percent.

The play needs to be what the DSA is doing. Use the democratic primaries to get in. Not the general.

And IMO "Blue No Matter Who" means "please vote for the polite imperialists, because I don't care what happens to anyone I don't know as long as I do have to hear about it on the news."

It's a call to just be ok with US funded genocide, concentration camps on US soil, constant war, no police accountability, and throwing trans rights under the bus because if you don't the other guys will do all that same shit but the media will actually talk about it so you can't pretend it isn't happening.

The play needs to be what Lenin, Castro, and Mao all did, overthrow the disgusting ruling class and establish a government run by workers.
