There was a reddit scandal last year where the mods of the ChangeMyMind sub agreed to let an AI lab research what arguments people on the sub found persuasive by writing fake responses. Claiming to be from an impacted group turned out to be a top persuasion factor.
It's not like it gets a majority of people. But if you can peel one percent off with one campaign, then those people's connections can start to see that side of the argument as more human due to the in-person exposure, and the next campaign can peel off another one percent - it adds up over time.
yeah, but "let them make crime, they need to eat" is just too much (which makes sense knowing it is a satire).
anyway that research sounds interesting, i am going to look at it, thank you.
