January 1st of 2000 would like to dispute this claim. At some point the world really was just one big party.
It wasn't simultaneous though, because timezones.

Yes I remember Jan 1st, 2000. I remember Dec 31st 1999, which... Yeah, everyone was waiting for it. In fact the 90s had so much shit waiting for the lead up to 2000 it wasn't funny.
