Hitler got into power because a bunch of people voted for "the lesser evil", who then handed Hitler the reigns. Do you not know history?

Yes. Hitler was the new non-political guy with great ideas. He made a great alternative to the tired old "lesser evils".

??? No??? Hitler got appointed chancellor by Hindenburg, with the support of a nominally centre-left coalition, specifically arguing that this is how it had to be just this one election, because it was the most important election of their lifetime.
Hitler was not seen as a lesser evil, he was seen more less as Trump was - a populist demagogue. And, just like Trump, he was handed the reigns to power by a bunch of liberals talking about "the lesser" evil.

Yes, that's what I said. Hitler was not seen as the lesser evil, he was seen as the alternative to the lesser evil. And he was put into power by a center right/monarchist coalition, because he was seen as better than just continuing to vote for the lesser evil.

Man, it's funny that you're telling people to stop voting for the lesser evil. Are you saying that given the option you'd rather vote for hitler?

That's not what I'm saying. Hitler was not seen as "the alternative" to the lesser evil, just as Trump is not seen as "the alternative" to the lesser evil - by the left.
Hitler was perceived, by the left, as a populist demagogue that needed to be fought, just like Trump is. The liberal centrists and conservatives were perceived as "the lesser evil" and "the only viable option." Voting for these parties was what ended up giving Hitler power, since these "lesser evil" parties did nothing to oppose Hitler and in fact handed him the reigns to power, just like the democrats have done with the republicans.

Had I lived in the Weimar republic then I would have voted for the only party that actually opposed Hitler - the KPD.

I see. So instead, we should bypass the democrats and just give the power directly to trump. Who you are comparing to hitler.

Sounds like you'd have voted for Hitler, dude. Or at the very least, happily provided the spoiler vote that ended up giving him power.

I get it, 30% of any given population is authoritarian. It's comforting to give your decisions to daddy ~~hitler~~ trump.
