Someone on lemmy was seriously trying to argue with me that Europe and the UK should let american food products in because "free market" or some shit.
I kept telling them NOBODY FUCKING WANTS THAT, and they just wouldn't get it.
And I say this as a USian...
They were probably either a troll or an astroturfer.
Even if "free market" was a valid argument, the US agricultural industry is anything but.

Jokes on you. We changed the definition of ice cream to extract maximum profit.
Ice cream = Frozen dessert product, in small print down below the fold.
Chocolate = chocolate flavored
Whipped topping = edible oil product
Apparently now include silicon dioxide. An odd choice that I don't think is going to lead to increased adoption but you do you.
Also Subway bread is not classified as bread in Europe because way too much sugar. Just like in the US so much processed food and drinks contain corn syrup. Which is also banned in Europe.

This oft-repeated "fact" is straight up bullshit. Supermarket bread in Europe has more sugar than Subway bread. The article you linked points out that it is simply for the purposes of determining VAT.
And high fructose corn syrup is not and has never been banned in Europe.

Does it? The cheap store brand white square bread in Holland had no added sugar at all. It has plenty of artificial stuff, but not sugar.

It's at least restricted and banned in UK. Plus many more chemicals that are allowed in the US and not in Europe. So don't preach US food safety to me.

You realize corn syrup is bad because it's cheap and overused to make food hyper palatable and not because it's intrinsically bad right? It's literally just as bad/good as cane sugar and the issue is over consumption.
