There was a brief but glorious period after Trump lost reelection at the end of his first term where all the social media sites finally started cracking down on the entire alt-right. Automated misinformation detectors went up, agitators and openly racist accounts (including Trump) were banned, and things almost started to look like they might get better for once.

It wasn't a very glorious time for those of us who were screaming and banging our heads on the walls, pleading, begging, demanding that the government, state, local, whoever would actually prosecute the guy who had just attempted to violently overthrow democracy.

I actually smashed my car radio with my foot while sitting at a stop light when I heard an NPR report on Hitler II's "humiliating end" via the kid glove treatment.
