I think BIOS has just morphed into meaning the firmware interface, nobody calls it UEFI. Everyone does indeed just say BIOS, which is okay. You can be more specific when it matters, which is basically never in the mass market.
Yeah, I mean. It's just a Basic Input/Output System.
Actually, in the Boot Services stage, UEFI can do a lot of things, like providing file systems (though only FAT32 is guaranteed), keyboard and mouse input, video output …
Like asking for a bandaid. Everyone knows what you mean, and asking for one and getting a generic bandage isn't going to matter.

I think, I saw it in some movie or heard about it already, so I am not representative of this. If you guessed a different thing, I was wrong and it can't be inferred, as in the same way a seller may guess wrong
