I pronounce it "platform firmware", or "firmware" when understood from context. When referring to specifically the part before it starts loading something else, "platform init code" and "init code", respectively.
I would call it this way for the original iMac, a SPARC station, a Silicon Graphics station, a Chromebook (modded or not), a cell phone (init code etched into SoC as "stage 0"), a regular plain old x86 computer.
On second thought, I would absolutely call all of these "BIOS" as well except the cell phone example where it's split.
