I’m sorry, but the language “democratic bitch” is just so unbelievable. And there’s no medical records? I feel this story was planted by her to take advantage of the current media coverage of Cornell and the resurgence of the me too movement. I do not trust politicians.
Have you met the average trump voter?
111 downvotes. I don't think I've ever seen something so downvoted on Lemmy before.
You should get a badge that follows you for something like that
A few of my comments have that many down votes, I want a badge
I’ll take one as well lol. I’ve got a few unpopular opinions that have racked up the downvotes.
That means you're reasonable and discerning.
If these mooks didn't down vote me, I'd be humiliated. Those without down votes follow trends and don't have convictions. It's easy to pro "flavor of the week" and follow the mob.
Nothing is easier than "getting along, going along", because the mob is very stupid and so predictable. Easy mode.
Here it is.
Not even an hour has passed since this was posted and there's already someone casting doubt on this victim's story.
Yeah what a shocker that people consistently exercise caution when hearing reports of horrific things and don't simply grant women the privilege of absolute trust...
I hope your dick shrivels up and falls off
Unlikely but maybe.
What do women gain by being victims of rape?
The life of a rape victim
Wow you have no fucking clue what you're talking about if you think "the life of a rape victim" is a good thing. Fuck you.
I don't think that.
You think that's enough of a benefit to women that people shouldn't automatically believe when a woman says they've been raped?
Why is trust a privilege that women must earn before they are believed to be raped?
You redirected the question though. What can women get by claiming to be a victim of rape?
https://sh.itjust.works/post/67596050/27712334
I remember our recent conversation now where you asserted that it is in the nature of men to rape and it is harmful to ask men to stop raping others:
That is your mischaracterization, not my claim. You're a very disingenuous conversationalist, Velma.
Again, you're more than welcome to expand on any of these statements that you've put out on your own accord.
I made sure to link to the conversation for full context.
Why is trust a privilege that women must earn before rape claims are to be believed?
Because women are people and trust is a privilege everyone must earn before claims of significance are accepted as true.
What actions must women take in order to earn the right amount of trust from the public to be believed when they are raped?
I want to make sure I'm understanding you correctly.
Did you avoid this question on purpose?
Women don't get much beyond disbelief and ridicule when they come forward about being raped.
"Claiming" to have been. You again dropped that part. Do you know why?
A claim has neither a negative or positive connotation. Claiming something happened doesn't mean it's inherently untruthful just as claiming something happened doesn't mean it did.
If you are going to focus on one word here and ignore all the context around the rape culture in the US, by all means go for it. But I'm not going to be reading it.
You took my offer to clarify the "false accusations" part and used it as a means to pivot to the broader topic, in general. This is disingenuous and you seem to do that quite often, looking at your post history (something I normally wouldn't do, but since you decided to do so...) I offered to clarify around that claim, not whatever part of the topic you prefered.
You know exactly what you were getting at with those initial comments, don't play dumb.
Now you seem to be inventing motives necessary to support the incorrect assumptions you've made...
Doesn't sound like a gain to me.
The Reddit Bernie Bro to Lemmycel pipeline is real.
I'm still sour over the absolute vileness of the Graham Platner defense from Lemmy leftists.
Unfortunately he was the most progressive option. So cognitive dissonance, I guess.
It was a perfect example of the type of misogyny that still flourishes on the left. Just being a leftist isn’t enough, people need to do the internal work of questioning their own biases against women.
Try reading the fucking article next time.
Believe women.
It's illegal to make a false statement to cops. The rate of false rape allegations is nearly nonexistent. There are 3rd party accounts of the fact she was withdrawn after the incident. There are an uncountable number of reasons she would have not wanted this to be public, not the least of which is your exact reaction here. She's not getting an advantage by claiming to be a rape victim, if anything people are likely to view her as weak or worse. No one votes for people out of sympathy and the fact you think the calculus would somehow be in her favor is a total misreading of what victims go through.
This kind of belief always boggles the mind - that women somehow have advantages to being a victim of rape.
Is it? Do you know any MAGAs? Because I do and it's not unbelievable at all.
Oh, shut the fuck up.
I don’t trust people who think women must be lying about rape if they can come up with a reason it would somehow be an “advantage” for them (guess what, someone will always be able to find an excuse)
Absolutely fair to be suspicious of politicians, but given the current political climate under ICE and Donald Trump, a serial rapist himself, it is completely plausible that a couple of MAGA hardliners would rape a democrat to induce political terror or to punish them. Rape is about power, not sex, afterall.
Thank you so much for your comment. I welcome the opportunity to remove your dimwitted, outdated, and useless opinions from my feed.
The only problem with blocking these types is that if everyone who cares does it they're free to keep vomiting garbage without pushback.
That's why I tag instead of block.
So I can identify and push back whenever I see a new shit take.
That's one of the reasons I'm such a pain in the ass on this site sometimes. There should be more visible pushback on the Fediverse lest we allow it to be overrun with misogynists.
I appreciate it, because doing that shit over and over grinds me the fuck down. 20+ years of the same arguments about the same shit, and they just keep making more misogynists. I’m tired, boss.
I recognize your username, I love seeing you pop up in comment sections. We’re in it together :)
Totally understand getting tired of it though. The desire to fight back ebbs and flows, but it’s always there.
Lemmy and Piefed both support tags now, I think. I'm pretty simple with how I rate people. I give red, yellow, or green tags based on how toxic their opinion is, and text summarizing the flag, eg., I just tagged minorkeys with red and "Hardcore Rape Apologist". If you tap and hold the user name of a comment in Voyager, it also links the comment you did that to, which is a good way to remind yourself why you tagged someone.
This allows you to still see shitty people's shitty comments, and skip over or respond, however you decide.
Helping the rapists with this horseshit... dickhead
