Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

There was a clip from legal eagle that the victims sister used his pictures to create an ai video of him to present at trial. I don't know if its shitty... but its fucking weird man

it is awful that a judge doesn't throw out such evidence and the witness with it.

As a parent who interacts with other parents, I can assure you some are.

My ex would do it. Probably wouldn't tweet about it (she's a covert narcissist)

Yeah but they would have the self awareness to realise that this is shit parenting right?

[–] Tartufo@lemmy.world 17 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

As someone who had to endure shit parents as a child: They don't.

They will rather go win gold in mental gymnastics than to allow any form of self-awareness from developing, too.

And then emotionally blackmail you to try and get you to take the blame for it

Jokes on them, I never developed the emotional capacity needed to be able to be emotionally blackmailed, thanks to their shit parenting.

"Oh so my mom wants to jump off a bridge if I don't come visit her? Well whatever floats her boat, that's far from the worst idea she ever had."

I watched a presentation from a big tech company in which the presenter talked how, while his wife was giving birth, he saw that as an opportunity and asked AI to build a "nursery design" site because he could use his daughter as a model. People were praising him for being forward thinking about providing to his family, I just couldn't imagine being this greedy.

I saw people from the same company eagerly discussing using AI to recreate dead relatives. It's disgusting how much these people are hypnotized by AI

Ow. Then again, the snake oil vendors would of course be this stupid/cynical. I am surprised at users being lost enough to actually do s.t. like this.

I said this the other day, it's a story. Regardless of whether or not it's ragebait it has a kernel of truth existing inside a story. Could this have happened, sure. Is it an objective truth? Most definitely not.
