The fash version of improving things is attacking minorities, defunding necessary services, invading and robbing other countries, ending democracy, etc.
From that perspective things have improved!
I remember someone on reddit said after he won, "now just sit back, relax, and your wallet will thank you" all smugly, like the economy was going to make us all rich.
I hope that fuck is struggling with his car payments and can't afford gas.

A very common mistake was in failing to understand the causes & benefits of FDR-style democracy, and the ~four decade age of prosperity that grew out of it. That and thinking that democracy was a birthright.
Such American voters were always going to be ripe for the grift.
