no, the situation is 4 vote to drive off this immediate cliff. 3 vote to drive off the next cliff, and 3 are trying get off the bus or are at peace with their impending doom.
“Vote blue no matter who” is a direct admission that your candidates suck, their stance on issues suck, but you can supposedly buy just a little more time from them then the republicans. except anyone with object permanence knows they don’t acutely fix anything, they ride or die with the republicans, and just use them as the bad guys.
“don’t let perfect be the enemy of good” is bullshit, establishment democrats are no where near good enough, and progressives don’t agree with their stance on: climate change, immigration, lgbtq+ protection, reigning in corporations, resisting genocide, universal healthcare, loosening racially motivated drug enforcement, breaking up the prison industrial complex, breaking up the military industrial complex, defunding the police, establishing ranked choice voting, repealing citizens united, making bribery illegal again, nor establishing term limits.
i don’t care about campaign promises. we already know how they will act, they work for who pays them, and it ain’t us.
by all means vote, but do not let these people use fear to force you to vote for the shortest shit stain
You're an idiot
When your opponent is a fascist, YOU VOTE AGAINST the FASCIST.
It blows my mind this this still needs to be said.
who is not the fascist? you are going to have to point them out because i see an open fascist, and a hidden fascist.
And you too can enjoy that cliff.
If you're asking this question you need to return to school. And I'm not even trying to be mean. If you can't tell, there is something wrong with your brain and education can probably fix it.
You may not like either side, but it has NEVER, NEVER been like this while Democrats were in control. This is a whole new shit ballgame.
For the record I sort of agree with you, but writing things in capital letters doesn't make them true. At the very least, you need to demonstrate that winning the election now by getting a bunch of corporate stooges into office wouldn't just cause a repeat of this in 2029 or 2033. Your point is not self-evident.
It is self evident that "stopping the Republicans now will only allow them in later" is a shit reason for not stopping the Republicans now.
In two party politics that the US system is set up to enforce, the opposition often moves to the centre where they see their lost votes lying. Republicans winning draws the Democrats to the right. It's been such a long time since the Democrats held all three branches that they have drifted a long way to the right.
Your can pull the Overton window s l o w l y to the left by not letting the Republicans win.
But that would be admitting reality and making a pragmatic choice, and I'll guessing you want the Republicans to win again to teach the Democrats a "move left" lesson that they can only hear the opposite of when the Republicans win.
No; you need to provide a long-term alternative that actually works.
And there it is. There are three problems here: First, where's your proof that this is what's going on? Second, before 2024 the Republicans hadn't had all three branches for even longer than the Democrats either yet they kept moving away from the center, so what's up with that? Third, polling has been exceptionally clear on what voters want for ages now and it is emphatically not centrist bullshit. Hell, progressive candidates keep winning all over the place. Why do the Democrats not understand that? Are they so stupid that they can't even read what the polls say? Keep in mind that this is an extraordinary claim that requires extraordinary evidence.
Again, you need to explain why this doesn't work the other way around, since the Republicans seem very able to sell their policy positions even when they're not in power, but also: Have you seen what the polls say? The Overton window has been at least in the center-left for ages and it's having zero impact on the Democratic establishment's policy. The Democratic Party is well to the right of its electorate.
TL;DR: You're making claims that need to be proven and defended before they can be taken seriously.
PS: Note that for the most part I'm not making my own claims here. I could do that but that can wait until you give me an argument I can seriously engage with.
Vote blue no matter who is an observation that the other party has gone so fucking far off the rails that voting for the other side, even if they aren't great, is what is necessary to force the pendulum back in the other direction. It's a plea to the idiots that don't vote or vote for 3rd party candidates with NO path to victory to just vote blue so we can put a stop to the very clear and present danger the Republican party represents so we can get back to normal political arguments and work from there.
You're assuming that if the Republicans lose now they'll disappear (or deradicalize) and then you can return to normal politics, but that's not how it actually goes is it? Every time they lose they just come back stronger because the establishment has no answer to the issues giving them (entirely undeserved) credibility. This is why "one more election then we can fix things" has been the rhetoric for decades yet the light at the end of the electoral tunnel never comes; these victories will never stick unless you can make things happen with them, which means the arguments about fixing things must happen at the same time as the arguments about stopping fascism.
Ahh but your numbers are wrong.
Translating reality to your scenario, there are 3 for one cliff, 3 for another cliff, and 4 who could vote for no cliff if they were actually paying attention.
