I've never voted in a primary before, but in 2028 I will be looking into that.
Just FYI primaries are more impactful to vote in than general elections.
Gotta start somewhere. Do you topple a building from the top down, or do you place explosives in strategic points of support and bring it down from within? Both methods can, and have, been used.
Why have you never voted in a primary?
Let's not blame people looking to change, but embrace them. Primaries are how we move the party to the left.
Last night was great progress towards damage control. Now we can start fixing things in the primaries.
Where do you see blame in my question? It's an honest question.
My comment was more intended to keep people from dogpiling on your comment to drum up blame for Fetterman on those who didn't participate previously but have now seen the importance. Your intent almost certainly wasn't blame, but it could still nudge people in that direction, even if that wasn't your intent.
I was usually the first in line to yell at people for not participating in the primaries over the last few years, and I felt a slight itch to fall back into it, so it was more of a "let's celebrate a win and move forward together" comment than anything specific about the intent of your comment.
Part of them changing includes taking responsibility for their previous actions (or in this case, inaction). That includes accepting blame for the very real results of people never voting in primaries.
Fuck people who couldn't be bothered until it started to directly affect them. They are, in large part, responsible for getting stuck with shit candidates and they should be able to accept this reality if they actually want to change.
Lots of people don't fuck with politics. But politics will always fuck with you.
Sounds like somebody who finally woke up. We have to participate in democracy for it to function.
My personal answer is that you have to register as a member of a party in my state, and I’m not fond of being on lists like that.
Get over it like the rest of us have. Time to be an adult.
No.
My state has this policy, too. I wonder if it is something we can change
Of course! You just need votes
Bro only 10% of americans vote in primaries. AKA the literal check and balance to incumbent power but i digress.
like FR, that is such a 2016 question.
I usually don't know anything about candidates before the actual election starts ramping up. I'm usually voting against people rather than for them.
That's literally because nobody votes in primaries.
It's like people don't put 3 seconds of thought into figuring out why the candidates you're presented with suck.
Might not have been old enough
Nah, I'm old as Hell.
