Do the men in your life not wash their hands? 🀒

[–] doctordevice@lemmy.ca 71 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Public men's restrooms make me not want to shake hands with anyone. The number of men who walk out straight past the sinks without stopping is alarming and disgusting.

When I worked fast food, I usually had to fill the men's soap but rarely the women's soap.

This could mean the place had more male traffic, women don't wash their hands as often, or something else. Who knows.

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Women bring their own soap.

(This is a joke but also I kind of almost believe it)

(Also this joke if kind of stolen from the game Life Is Strange)

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

That is one of my favorite games.

women don’t wash their hands as often

I could believe this. Not saying the men's are much better as I'd say they're definitely just as bad, but my wife used to tell me horror stories about the women's restrooms before she swore off ever using one again outside of emergencies.

The number of guys who do this in my local arcade bar really pisses me off. We're all touching the same surfaces in there WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS.

[–] doctordevice@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

It's absolutely gross. I literally think about it every time a Boomer socially pressures a handshake with me, and I try not to touch anything else until I can wash my hands or at least get some sanitizer. Idk if any individual is guilty of it, but enough strangers are that I'm not taking chances.

Peel it off like a freshly completed 3D print; crackling noises and all.

The itchy sting is how you know it's working

Can I downvote you for saying something which, regardless of if it's true or not, definitely should have been left unsaid?

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 12 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

From what I've seen in my 30 years of life 90% of men don't wash their hands

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 19 points 2 weeks ago

Not just the men, but the women and children too!

[–] bleistift2@sopuli.xyz 10 points 2 weeks ago

I found that it depends on the level of education. University: People wash their hands. The logistics center right next door: β€œWhat’s a sink?”

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I was at a major concert the other day waiting in line for the bathroom. So many men just strolled out of there without even looking at the sink.

i mean i get it. i was cooking at an event and the way i wash up, well, a man there accused me of prepping for surgery. i was only washing three inches above my wrist. gran's an RN so we might have grown up knowing how to clean.

I'm borderline obsessive about it personally. Like after bathroom, right before eating, and right after some gardening. And it is fucking disgusting how many dudes I witness in public restrooms walk straight out. I used to call them out, but it's not worth the hassle anymore.

But from a purely subjective pov, never touch another dude's hands because odds are they haven't washed them in days.

I am a janitor for a college and you'd be appalled at how rarely I have to fill the soap dispensers in both the men's and the women's restrooms, there's a lot of folks who just don't wash their hands in general
