For anyone who's curious, reclaimed water toilets are, indeed, a thing.

[–] Ephera@lemmy.ml 37 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, you don't need the urinal to be under the sink. You can just run a pipe to the urinal...

Yeah, I was a little confused by the choice of meme there, since this is actually a thing. https://www.sinkology.com/product/sinksense-greenflow-toilet-tank-sink/

[–] AnUnusualRelic@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I've actually seen those (or rather some quite similar to them) in the wild a few times. They're not very convenient to use (because the seat is in the way) even though you can't help but think they're a great idea each time you use them.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm not going to bother to research, but I'm sure there must be models where the sink faces the side of the toilet. It'd take up more space, but still less space than a totally separate sink and toilet.

so that when men wash their hands

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 52 points 1 week ago (7 children)

Do the men in your life not wash their hands? 🤢

[–] doctordevice@lemmy.ca 71 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Public men's restrooms make me not want to shake hands with anyone. The number of men who walk out straight past the sinks without stopping is alarming and disgusting.

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

When I worked fast food, I usually had to fill the men's soap but rarely the women's soap.

This could mean the place had more male traffic, women don't wash their hands as often, or something else. Who knows.

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Women bring their own soap.

(This is a joke but also I kind of almost believe it)

(Also this joke if kind of stolen from the game Life Is Strange)

[–] SendMePhotos@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

That is one of my favorite games.

[–] VinnyDaCat@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

women don’t wash their hands as often

I could believe this. Not saying the men's are much better as I'd say they're definitely just as bad, but my wife used to tell me horror stories about the women's restrooms before she swore off ever using one again outside of emergencies.

[–] hash@slrpnk.net 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

The number of guys who do this in my local arcade bar really pisses me off. We're all touching the same surfaces in there WASH YOUR DAMN HANDS.

Some men don't even wipe their ass. 🤷‍♂️

[–] NeatNit@discuss.tchncs.de 14 points 1 week ago

Can I downvote you for saying something which, regardless of if it's true or not, definitely should have been left unsaid?

[–] blinfabian@feddit.nl 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

let it crust like a sigma 🔥🗣️

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

Peel it off like a freshly completed 3D print; crackling noises and all.

From what I've seen in my 30 years of life 90% of men don't wash their hands

[–] dohpaz42@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago

Not just the men, but the women and children too!

[–] bleistift2@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 week ago

I found that it depends on the level of education. University: People wash their hands. The logistics center right next door: “What’s a sink?”

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was at a major concert the other day waiting in line for the bathroom. So many men just strolled out of there without even looking at the sink.

I'm borderline obsessive about it personally. Like after bathroom, right before eating, and right after some gardening. And it is fucking disgusting how many dudes I witness in public restrooms walk straight out. I used to call them out, but it's not worth the hassle anymore.

But from a purely subjective pov, never touch another dude's hands because odds are they haven't washed them in days.

[–] TrousersMcPants@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

I am a janitor for a college and you'd be appalled at how rarely I have to fill the soap dispensers in both the men's and the women's restrooms, there's a lot of folks who just don't wash their hands in general

That makes way more sense than Riker-maneuvering yourself around these awkward things:

Edit: Riker Maneuver if you're unfamiliar with the term.

[–] axexrx@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago

I think for those, you go with the butters.

[–] crazycraw@crazypeople.online 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

wow he even rikered out of the chairs?

TIL

[–] db2@lemmy.world 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If anyone is curious it came about because of back problems. Frakes has back issues and it was easier and less painful to do it that way, it got turned in to a character trait.

Japan has these basically at a few bars I went to. Saves on space as well.

[–] CentipedeFarrier@piefed.social 5 points 1 week ago (3 children)

How awkward are they to use?

They're only awkward when you're pissing and someone else is washing their hands.

This person is entirely unaware of the lack of hand washing that takes place in the mens bathroom and I'm so sorry for them

This is already a thing, and it's not just for urinals.

It's genuinely disturbing how many men I've seen not wash their hands.

Just piss in the sink. I’ve been saying this for years

[–] MimicJar@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

The one in the bathroom or any sink?

Instructions unclear, pissed on hands.

[–] DrBob@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 week ago

Grey water system.

[–] Omega_Jimes@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Then men would have no reason to leave without washing their hands. Seriously dudes, I'm pleading over here, soap and water.

[–] Blum0108@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

You think the dudes that don't wash their hands are worried about flushing?

[–] biggerbogboy@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Can’t you beat the system by pissing directly into the urinal sink and not washing your hands?
