The word is fuck. You don’t need to be afraid of the word fuck. It’s just a happy, colorful little word and we should all embrace it.

Say it with me everyone:

fuck

I'm still not convinced that people aren't doing it for engagement bait

Now on the other hand, these absurd c*** n*** slurs should be blurred and unheard.

I bestow on you, with gratitude and respect, this humble acknowledgment of your efforts:

the best part is when you're at the airport with your elementary school wife, so you say "oh dammit i have to say the fuck b-word" at the airport and she both understands, laughs, and kicks you for saying the b-word at an airport.

That's fine, it's still fowl language

All that matters is you tried.

Too bad it was on Lemmy, where that doesn't matter.

I sometimes find it interesting to contemplate how best to treat swear words. One the one hand, the thing that seems most obvious to me is to just say "theyre just words to express frustration or anger at something. Those are real and valid emotions, and its silly to treat expletives like theyre morally wrong to say somehow, or like its a bad thing if children learn them, etc." On the other hand, part of the appeal to using them is that they feel at least a bit taboo, allowing a sentiment like "I feel so upset with this situation that I'm going to break this social rule to show it". If theres no taboo at all, which you get when they're used all the time and entirely casually, they no longer serve that purpose very well and people start looking for new things that feel a little bit transgressive to say. Which paradoxically implies that there isnt a point in saying them unless youre not "allowed" to say them, except they cant be too offensive to say either or they'll feel disproportionate and rude.

Ignore social implications and optimize your swearing around the strength buffs. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11586181/

You're reading too much into it. It's just a word. It doesn't need to be taboo to have power. As long as everyone knows what you mean when you say it then it's a useful word.

[–] Nangijala@feddit.dk 2 points 2 days ago

The word is in fact cheese, good sir. Curd, even.

[–] Seleni@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Tell that to the .ml folks lol

Their instance auto-censors them when they use it

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

That's pretty removed

[–] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago

It’s okay, those aren’t real people.

One of the most interesting words in the English language is the word "fuck."

It can be used as:

As a transitive verb: "John fucked Mary."

As an intransitive verb: "Mary was fucked by John."

As a noun: "Mary is a fine fuck."

As an adjective: "Mary is fucking beautiful."

It can be used as a greeting: "How the fuck are you?"

Surprise: "FUCK! You scared the shit out of me."

Anxiety: "The day is really fucked."

It can even be used as nearly every word in a sentence: "Fuck the fucking fuckers."

[–] KSPAtlas@sopuli.xyz 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

The "intransitive" verb form is still transitive, just expressed in the passive voice

"Fuck" can be used as an intransitive verb though: "John fucks"

[–] Ste41th@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 days ago

Yea that’s fucked

[–] PizzaLamp25@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

My English teacher had a short lesson on this word. Can use it anywhere in every possible way. "Fucking fuck is fucked." "What the fuck is that fucking fuck." And be grammatically correct. Told the class "It's an amazing word and wish we can use it normally, but don't tell anyone I taught you this."

Dude was strict too, so in his honor I say fuck everyday casue fuck it! Why the fuck not. Don't like it, fuck you. It's a fucking word, for fuck's sake... fuck.
