Why is it a problem if he sings about that? Being a Puerto Rican is something to be proud of and it’s appropriate if he has opinions on what future they should seek.

I personally think they’d be better off as a state and would welcome them, but it starts with people there deciding what they want to do

I didn't say it was a problem, on the contrary, I found it admirable.

They, contrary to all my hopes, want so bad to be a USA state, but it's looking like they are too brown to be "Americans" or they are far from being a priority for the government. The Trump administration seems fixated with the idea of a 51st state in the north. But, hey, at least they are not being economically blocked since the 1960s.
