  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.

I shave in the shower every day, quick, easy, no razor burn.

[–] FairycorePhoebe@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I've shaved blind in the shower every day for years. I just run my hand along my face directly in front of the razor as I shave to feel what the razor is about to run over before it actually gets there. For the sideburn area I put my finger at the edge of what I want to shave and just shave upwards until I bump against my finger. For the lips I just kinda curl them inward to make them as flush with my face as possible. I've memorized the contours of my face at this point.

Instructions unclear.
No razor; used nail clippers.
Looked at cloth.

Is anyone O+?

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 2 days ago (2 children)

O+?.... like a positively charged oxygen, orrrr.... over 0 years old?.......

[–] lime@feddit.nu 27 points 2 days ago

i think they might need a blood donor

I don't mind my face, I just found it easier to shave in shower, you really don't need a mirror

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You skipped a few steps, Maria.

First get a washcloth and take it with you into a nice hot shower. Put the razor where you can find it with your eyes shut. Lather up your hair with some nice-scented shampoo. Spread some of the lather to your face and rub the stubbly areas with the washcloth, to get the hairs lifted up and the skin pushed down. You'll get a closer shave and fewer cuts.

Now start shaving with your eyes shut, paying attention to how the razor feels on your skin, sliding through the shampoo foam, getting rid of all that stubble.

If you have short hair you can clean up your neck too, just feel for the edge of your hairline with a finger of your other hand so you don't shave too high. Same for in front of your ears. Then finish washing and conditioning your hair. Feel free to shave any other parts of yourself while you're in there. Just remember to give them a little rub with the soapy washcloth first.

If you have very dry hair, you can shampoo it first, put on conditioner, and use some of that to make your face slippery for shaving, while your hair gets moisturized during those minutes.

well yeaaaaa- thats would make it safe tho... the point if the pist was kinda that it is unsafe - but thank u anyway <3 i will prolli actually do it like this now ~

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago

Yeah, the post was definitely funnier the dangerous way! <)%^)

I've actually shaved without a mirror without cutting myself while in a hospital. I wouldn't recommend bc scary

As far as your game, it would be nice to have mobile, but there are probably a lot of hurdles to it.

[–] morto@piefed.social 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's exactly how I shave. I can't stand to look at my face...

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 2 days ago (3 children)

yeaaaa..... its how im doin it too..... it works. it gets done... yeaaaa its fine- its oki.

we shall continue doin that- will share better technique if i find one.

[–] fushuan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

The better technique is either shower or soaking razor in hot water every X to keep it hot. Also, go first downwards then upwards. Upwards directly is too rough on the skin and you will get hurt.

After shaving in the shower or out, throw some face lotion, specific after shave if you can so microcuts close faster and you are good to go.

I'm a cis man and I don't mind shaving in the mirror, but I usually shave in the shower because hot hair + skin + blades = no cuts.

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I've heard that you shouldn't cross cut like that (down then up) as it can increase the risk of ingrown hairs. Can't absolutely vouch for the validity of that though.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

Your hair texture makes a lot of difference on that. Curly or kinky hairs get ingrown more easily.

[–] garbagebagel@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

I don't shave my face so take this with a grain of salt, but I have been convinced by several people with shaved heads that shaving with a safety razor and badger hair brush is the way to go for the closest shave.

It's also like INSANELY cheaper than disposable razor heads and they last longer. Like we used to buy a pack of gilette heads for $40-50 for 12 every couple of weeks, now we buy one pack of 10 blades for $5 every few months.

They don't give as close a shave, and I imagine that that extra little bit matters a lot for some transfems. I certainly prefer an electric shaver (I have the Braun 9350cc), but I'm not dysphoric and I am very lazy.

[–] Voroxpete@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

This. Please don't use an electric razor if you're looking for gender euphoria. I use one because I'm a cis guy and I think the slight hint of stubble looks good. But for silky smooth skin no electric will ever get you there.

You need to use a high quality razor (you'll cut yourself less as well), shaving foam (get something flowery scented if that helps with the gender feels), and you absolutely must apply damp heat to your skin first. Ideally shave in the bath or fresh out of the shower, but if that's not an option, take a cloth, soak it in very warm water (hot enough that its almost uncomfortable to touch, but not quite) and press it to your face. Apply foam. Apply towel again. Apply foam again. Now shave.

I know that part sucks because you probably want the whole awful experience to be over as fast as possible, but a little extra time will get you a much smoother shave and you'll be less likely to cut yourself.

Replace your razor or razor head often. Dull razors make bad skin. Men's brands are distinctly cheaper (fuck the pink tax) so if using a men's razor doesn't hit the dysphoria buttons too hard its a good deal. Harry's are exceptional quality for the price, and you can get them on a mail order subscription plan if you don't want to be seen buying them in store.

After shaving, apply coconut oil or a high quality moisturizer. Never use alcohol based aftershaves, they dry your skin out. Plus coconut oil smells fucking great. Rub it into your scalp too, your hair will be silky soft. Better than any conditioner.

[–] kkj@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

Double-edged safety razors make it way cheaper to replace the blade frequently (a new blade every shave, one side per cheek isn't unreasonable at less than $0.50 for the absolute most expensive ones, less than $0.10 for most) and work quite well. I've heard they suck for anything but your face, though, so a multi-blade razor marketed to women might be your best bet for anything else.

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 days ago

i said - any ki d of razor -.... hmm ya iguess that excludes electric ones... but i didnt mean it that way. I meant like - use whatcha wana

[–] ElfBean@fedia.io 6 points 2 days ago

I've found that the further I get with laser the more bearable it is, not just easier in general but looking in the mirror while I do it. Just can't wait until I don't need to put so much work into covering what's still there when I'm wearing makeup

[–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 days ago

How do you come up with this stuff Maria? It is inspired!

[–] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What about…um, y- you know…the other things?

[–] Maxxie@piefed.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Depilation cream is a good option. Its easy to use and it lasts for about 8-9 days for me. Just make sure to get the sensitive version, it has a weaker concentration of active ingredient. Using the legs\arms-one on private parts can cause a rash.

(if someone tells me it causes cancer or made out of baby seals I will be very, very sad 🫥)

Get an electric shaver for those other things?

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Just add being in the shower and that's what I do. Plus, I don't have issues with not being able to touch my face, and washing it after helps me find the spots I missed the first time

[–] MxRemy@piefed.social 3 points 2 days ago

Seconded for shaving in the shower 👌🏻👌🏻

Also try conditioner for shaving, it's amazing and I'll never go back

[–] anothercatgirl@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

yeah I just use a foil shaver

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 3 points 2 days ago

I buy my foil shaved.

I'd wanna play it on mobile and pc

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I’m interested in that game discussion! I think something like Journey is difficult because you usually need a good art style and enough players to keep the novel multiplayer experience alive for everyone.

The main blocker for mobile is the app store process and expectations of the type of player that would be there. Premium games don’t typically do well since people expect free games with ads and the like. Web can be okay, especially if you get into one of those free game sites, but multiplayer is still a tough nut to crack. There are some godot games on flatpak but idk how widely they’re played

Anyway I hope that wasn’t discouraging 😅 I think designing for a Journey-like is interesting!

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

hmmmm... my idea is to have it just be a foss game which can find its way onto flatpak and the play store. ive already tried some online tests with frens over the network using a web hosted version of a game and it worked great!we app peeps were able to play and have our data transmitted - without downloading anything.

so yeaaaa- im not really plannimg on making any money, so a sky: children of the light type thing but without microtransactions would be the goal....im not really doin this to make money - aaaaanyway-

i feel that the magic with journey is that it can be played alone without u even noticing its multiplayer. so its a great single player game - and also a good multiplayer exp- (i just played journey recently for the first time.,.)

thank u for ur feedback

[–] GammaGames@beehaw.org 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Good point, the multiplayer in Journey is a nice bonus that adds to the world. I had to look up sky: children of the light and I can see why you want your own version. And running completely in-browser is actually really cool! I tried to make a web build (targeting mobile) when 4 was new and ran into annoying problems lol

There’s a guide to get a godot game into flathub floating around the fediverse too, if that’s what you’re using. Good luck!

[–] Smorty@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

yesyes, godot 4 very good - am always on the latest dev build >v<
