I voted for him twice, but that was a solid dick move. Right now, I'm liking Mark Kelly's chances though I'd rather have someone more forward thinking.

And sorry folks. AOC just hasn't got the experience yet. Senate seat or a Cabinet position first.

Is anyone really surprised? He's just a neoliberal that's had a lot of good press this year.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 8 points 7 hours ago

Well, then, fuck him.

Ladies and gentelmen, California Bush

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 26 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Billionaire tax should be 99%, no breaks or deductions. Boom I said it.

Even double digit millionaires shouldn't exist.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 4 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Anything networh over 10 million should be taxed 100%. hard stop, hard cap.

Companies too should now be able to grow beyond 1 billion in net worth. Anything over that, 100% tax

NO MORE MULTIMILLIONAIRES! NOT ANYWHERE

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 1 points 8 hours ago

I meant to say 99% (probably should add the .99) of their net worth, as opposed to what was earned in the last year.

I'm not trying to literally tax them to literal death, just back down to regular people levels.

Make some kinda cutoff for retirement, but then impose a tax specifically for commercial interest purchases/expenditures.

Remember Democrats, if he's the Democrat option come election time it's TOO LATE TO bitch!!

Fucking primaries!! They matter they are the only real choice! Organize, cavas suppot real progressives!

But once the national election comes up, I better not hear any fucking bitching, and you better line up becuase 4 years of president Vance is going to kick you in the nuts.

Gavin Newsom takes money from AIPAC and knows he can't justify it, and has expressed support for Zionist Israel. Just like Holocaust Harris, I will not vote for anyone who supports genocide. If signing my name to greenlight genocide is the cost of "democracy" (actually oligarchy with some publicly-funded democracy theater), then the price is too high and I refuse.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 11 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

If I'm forced to vote for this asshole I'm going to bitch the entire time.

Why? Because it's bullshit and I'm allowed to.

Fuck the Democratic Party.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 10 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I don't like him, he's just another Republican-lite establishment Democrat, like Obama, or the Clintons. He used to be married to Kimberly Guilfoyle, before she became Don Jr's concubine (Now she's in exile as the Greek Ambassador, to shut her up), so he must be tolerant enough of MAGA nonsense to marry one.

I'm so sick of these people claiming to be our saviors every four years, and when they get in, they spend ALL their efforts appeasing corrupt pedophile traitors, even when they have the power to crush them.

We've seen what MAGA is capable of, and what they want in the future. When the power flips, we have to fight fire with fire, and ruthlessly purge MAGA from our government and our society, and I doubt Newsome is the guy for the job. He's just another water-carrier for the Sociopathic Oligarchs, which California has lots of.

But if he's the nominee, then that's who I'll vote for over ANY MAGA.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 1 points 9 hours ago

Get used to it. I'm in my mid 40s and the Democrats have been this my entire fucking life.

[–] stabby_cicada@slrpnk.net 1 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (2 children)

Remember Democrats, if he's the Democrat option come election time it's TOO LATE TO bitch!!

And that's why I'm not a Democrat.

Jesus Christ, if you think Presidential primaries matter, I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I want to sell you. If the Democratic primaries weren't rigged to hell and back Bernie would have finished his second term last January. And if Democrats had been allowed to have a primary in 2024 Newsom would probably be president now.

If you want us to believe that your primaries are an opportunity for actual choice, maybe you shouldn't have appointed a 2024 Presidential candidate who never, in her entire life, won a single fucking primary.

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

If the Democratic primaries weren’t rigged to hell and back Bernie would have finished his second term last January.

Which the courts said was within their legal right, so you can absolutely expect them to do it again.

[–] madcaesar@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

There were no primaries in 2024....

Again, you can rage like a lunatic and do nothing productive, or get involved and do to the Democratic party what the tea party did to the Republican party.

So it's absolutely possible, but just bitching about the system ain't it.

[–] 7101334@lemmy.world 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

The Tea Party still had the backing of capitalists. If you try moving the Democrat party meaningfully left, you will not have that.

[–] frostedtrailblazer@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago

It’s currently working with recent events progressive primarying efforts, but not from actually getting centrist corporate Dems from shifting left.

[–] stabby_cicada@slrpnk.net 2 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

There were no primaries in 2024....

That's the fucking point.

Don't tell me I can fight the billionaire masters of the Democratic Party in the primaries when those billionaire masters canceled the primaries just last year.

We need a new progressive movement, not just to outcompete the failed Democrats, but to move this country away from a broken system of electoral politics that lets us "choose" between two oligarchs from the Epstein caste and calls it democracy. We don't need progressives banging their heads against a billionaire funded wall and lending credibility to a rigged primary process through their participation.

[–] frostedtrailblazer@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

There wasn’t a lot of time for a primary to be fair. A primary would have happened if Biden stuck to his word and stayed a one term candidate.

Progressives winning primaries through Ranked Choice Voting would be huge. At the least it would give us voters a real clue about how close we are to getting progressives in power instead of just the incumbents.

Luckily, the Democratic Party has recently supported the idea of using Ranked Choice Voting for primaries.

A new party can’t get off the ground if the entire voting system moved to Ranked Choice voting. Which can happen on a state by state basis and has already happened in Alaska and Maine.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

On the side of the billionaires and the zionists. He'll be the next president for sure.

[–] Ashenlux@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 6 hours ago

And don't forget he is also throwing trans people under the bus to.

I got a fiver that says he has to try to walk this back when he runs “the most progressive campaign in us history” in 2028.

I mean, how lucky are we? Hillary, Biden, Kamala, all with “the most progressive platform” ever!

[–] stabby_cicada@slrpnk.net 4 points 15 hours ago

And before that, Obama, Kerry, and if I remember right even fucking Gore were all accused of being the most radical left Presidential candidates in American history.

Funny how the Democratic Party keeps running more and more progressive candidates - both the Republicans and Democrats say they're doing it, so it must be true - and yet the Democratic Party keeps moving more and more to the right.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

oh yeah, totally feeling lucky, think I'll go buy a lottery ticket.

edit: I lost.

[–] rockSlayer@lemmy.blahaj.zone 146 points 2 days ago (5 children)

And so it begins. Abandon all progressive ideas to appeal to the "centrist", only to lose to the fascist again. I hate it here.

The only reason Newsom has had any interest from the broader electorate is that he was outspoken in opposing Trump. The minute he enters the primary and starts spouting the same valueless, donor-approved, corporate drivel as Kamala, Jefferies, Schumer, etc., he's going to flame out fast.

[–] damnedfurry@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (3 children)

I feel like people have completely forgotten that Kamala was at like 3% when she bowed out of the primaries.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

The hatred of trump might propel a dem who otherwise has no chance. like when Biden won. Against any competent republican he would have been clobbered.
