Actually unhinged. Never forget that Americans got a taste of this and voted for it again.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 14 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They legally cheated with gerrymandering and throw in a little of illegal by his minions as well. They cheated in 2020 too, it just wasn't good enough.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 29 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Gerrymandering only explains how he can win the Electoral College. It doesn't explain 77.3 million Americans going "yeah, I'll vote for that."

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Did you notice that every accusation is a confession? I would look at the voting machines his minions (musk, election officials, etc.) had power over.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Honestly, while it would not surprise me in the slightest to find out there was actual voter fraud, it would surprise me much, much less that Americans legitimately voted for him.

Careful, that kind of talk will get you deported.

[–] Agrivar@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

If I wasn't a fourth-generation U.S. citizen of very light complexion, I'd be more worried. As it is, I wish some European country wanted me!

[–] _Nico198X_@europe.pub 8 points 2 months ago

more people voted for Trump than live in the UK.

just Trump voters alone would make them the 4th most populous country in Europe. it's fucking INSANE.

[–] mercano@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Gerrymandering only affects the House. For the Senate and the Electoral College, the district boundaries are fixed as the state boundaries. (I’m not saying that low population states don’t have a disproportionate influence in either body, I’m just saying the boundaries are fixed.)

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Partially because he was deplatformed. People weren't constantly reminded of his craziness for four years.

[–] scintilla@piefed.zip 8 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Huh? He was making headlines weekly during bidens term?

[–] FlexibleToast@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

It wasn't quite that often and it wasn't a new thing every time. It was usually the same thing over and over. Some new advancement in the investigations.

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 67 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Do you think he consciously asks himself "How do I make this about me?" or is it just a well-honed reflex?

[–] Glide@lemmy.ca 55 points 2 months ago

Well-honed reflex.

Narcissists aren't very good at self-awareness.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 16 points 2 months ago

He doesn't need to ask at all. He's a narcissist.

[–] Denjin@feddit.uk 36 points 2 months ago (1 children)

There's only one person on the planet currently suffering with Trump Derangement Syndrome...

[–] _Nico198X_@europe.pub 12 points 2 months ago

i dunno. i tend to include 77 mil. Americans in that category as well.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 35 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Crazy he can say all these things but the moment you say, "Charlie Kirk said some hateful things", Gestapo starts swooping in.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

You can talk about locking up, assaulting, or murdering people you don't like for exercising their right to free speech. But, the moment you quote a dead hatemonger you are going to lose everything!

[–] ryper@lemmy.ca 25 points 2 months ago (1 children)

With Reiner's son being the main suspect, Trump could have just called him a lousy father if he really needed to speak ill of the dead. But no, he had to make it about himself somehow.

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 8 points 2 months ago

Narcissists always make it about themselves. It’s kinda their thing.

You're out of your fucking element!

Not to misuse technical terms here but... What the flying fuckin' fuck???

[–] scarabic@lemmy.world 8 points 2 months ago

The subtext is clear: if you dare speak out against me, your children will murder you. You see what happens Larry? You see what happens?

Fuck this lunatic presidunce.

[–] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 12 points 2 months ago (1 children)

The majority of Americans saw this guy and went

"Aww hell yeah brother"

[–] washbasin@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago (3 children)
[–] GorGor@startrek.website 8 points 2 months ago

And (reportedly) 19 million more who thought, 'whatever, I'm not voting'

[–] GeneralEmergency@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago

A non-vote is still a vote.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

*Two thirds of voting eligible Americans

[–] ReallyActuallyFrankenstein@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Every time I see one of these Trump posts, I'm like, "The only thing that could make this comment more unhinged was if his profile picture looked like he was run over squarely across the face by a Ford F-350 with American flag tire treads dripping wet with paint at the exact moment he completes a bowel movemen- oh wait, nope, they got it."

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 5 points 2 months ago

Wtf I preferred it when Trump was in control of his own social media accounts

[–] Rhoeri@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

Fucking MASTERFUL trolling. It’s sad that we have a sitting president that the clowns on 4chan would envy.

[–] Mulligrubs@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago

SUBJECTIVE: Patient presents with complaints of TDS and "stinky hand".

OBJECTIVE: Patient is morbidly obese, affect deranged, body odor unpleasant. Right hand is indeed "stinky" and necrotic. Full diaper.

ASSESSMENT: Fatty cankleoid with severe brain damage and rotting baby fist.

PLAN: No treatment provided.

[–] MuskyMelon@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

When Trump dies, they better hide where his remains are interred like Genghis Khan or risk turning it into the world's most popular toilet.

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 months ago

What a fucking douchebag.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago (1 children)

His age is really showing, isn't it? He—once again—misspelled "gilded age" as "golden age"

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 7 points 2 months ago (2 children)

What?

"Golden Age" is a thing people say. The "Gilded Age" also was a period of American history, but President Tang wasn't making a reference to Mark Twain.

Of all the things to criticize the idiot over...

[–] Drusas@fedia.io 6 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I think this is a "woosh" on your part. OP seems to have been joking about how this is a gilded age--not a golden one.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

You are 100% correct.

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Fair enough.

[–] pivot_root@lemmy.world 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

What the Trump admin put the country into isn't a golden age, but instead something more akin to a repeat of the Gilded Age, with its rampant political corruption and extreme wealth disparity. The joke is that he meant to say "Gilded Age"—which is the more accurate comparison—but is so out of it that he instead said "Golden Age".

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Fair enough, I guess the "intentionality" threw me off.

I wouldn't expect Trump to know about the Gilded Age (much less to align his administration with its corruption). My brain stopped at "that's like a 10th grade school mistake, while Trump is usually stumbling around grade 4."
