To be fair it's not a full liter even if it was 1000ml.

Over half the damn thing is ice. They also have a custom blend so they can cut it with more water than normal coke. Not the same as pounding a new sealed bottle.

When I worked at Taco Bell, I would make food like how I would want it and I would ice and fill drinks how I'd want it: just enough ice and filled to the brim with no overflow or mess. The trick is to tilt the cup and overfill it, so that the foam rolls out of the cup as you're filling it, then untip it as you top it off. The momentum of the overflow keeps the side clean if you do it right, kind the same energy as snapping off a paper towel or toilet paper from a roll one-handed.

...and they do it with coffee too. 1/2 litre of something that cannot be called coffee... you can see the bottom of your cup through it. recolonise!

And half a litre isn't?

Well, you’re not really supposed to drink it all in one sitting. You’re supposed to drink it all in less than a full sitting and then get a free refill to throw out the window on the way back home because the ice melted and you have several liters of cola in your fridge anyway.

It's insane to me that the US small is almost as big as the UK large.

It's okay. They pack all the US sizes full of ice first, so it's simultaneously not that bad and a complete rip-off.

Drinking soda regularly (as a replacement to water) is fucking disgusting.

Important to bear in mind that Americans also put a ton of ice in the cup too.

When I was a teen we'd often get a "cube" (24 pack of 12oz cans) of Mountain Dew and drink it in a night. It seems horrific to me now.

80 percent water ice and 20 percent soda.

Wait until you get up to an 8 Ball of coke in one sitting...

Another fun comment, movie theaters used to have absolutely gigantic portions (yes, even bigger than now). Cobb Theaters had a soda called "The Cobbster" which was 80oz. It was basically a popcorn bucket full of soda with a straw. And it came with free refills, it was the only size to do so. I imagine that was because only a maniac would actually come back for a refill. I did it once to "get my value", but I couldn't actually drink any more.

there's two things you just can't take from us americans:

• high power semi-automatic rifles
• sodabuckets
