The silence from the Democratic leadership is deafening. Yes there are a few non-progressives that have gone rogue, but for the most part it has been all's quiet in the chickenshit front.

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 49 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They’re not chickenshit. They want this. The wealthy need the military in the streets to stop populist uprisings.

We need more politicians like Mayor Joker.

"Can you tell us what you're doing here today?"

"Some mayoral candidates take bribes from Big Money. I'm skipping the bribe part and just taking the money, and giving it back to the citizens. Here's your money, chumps!"

"What do you hope to accomplish as Mayor of Gotham?"

"Where to start? Education reform. Every child should have the choice to be in a dual immersion class, and be bilingual. I also want free universal healthcare. Do you think Arkham would have a three year waitlist if everyone had access to free mental health services? And the rich one percenters are gonna pay for it all. Big changes are gonna happen. Hahahaha!"

"You want the rich to pay for all this, are you like a, socialist?"

"I'm not like a socialist. I AM a socialist. And together, we're gonna fix this city!"

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I am looking forward to the Mayor Joker & Scooby Doo crossover. Batman turns out to be the pharmaceutical CEO, Bruce Wayne!

...did Luigi kill Bruce Wayne's father?

Ummm, is Batman's greatest nemesis supposed to make more sense than Batman?

[–] I_Jedi@lemmy.today 5 points 3 days ago

In that season, yes. Amusingly, Joker had Batman put away for tax evasion in the season finale.

Both parties are literally owned by Israel and the Zionist oligarchs. Our country is literally occupied by Israel. https://www.trackaipac.com/shame

Not sure how y'all didn't learn from the government shutdown, it was only 2 months ago. Democratic leadership is getting the job done, it's just that Democrat voters miraculously haven't realized what "the job" is yet.

Once Americans realize that both Democrats and Republicans are controlled by the same puppet master, then we can see change.

[–] JoMiran@lemmy.ml 11 points 4 days ago

The "puppet master" is greed.

[–] demizerone@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago

Controlled opposition. FUCK THEM ALL.

Its frustrating that they only throw the blame at Trump and "MAGA world" when every single Republican voted for this ridiculous ICE budget.

Edit.

[–] AfricanExpansionist@lemmy.ml 14 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Corkyskog@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago (5 children)

Sure but most of them didn't vote to increase the budget 400% leading to all the nonsense we see today.

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 6 points 3 days ago

It's always just the right amount of Democrats though. And if you replace any, there will always be another Democrat to take the fall.

It's frustrating to me that they only throw the blame at "Republicans" when the Democrats openly work with them. "We're the labor party tee-hee we're just really bad at labor stuff it's hard lol"

And it's frustrating to me that they only blame political parties, and not the wealthy institutions and people that use them for their own agenda with massive infusions of cash.

See the Heritage Foundation, the Council on Foreign Relations, and their financiers just to start. Thank you.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

There are no Republicans. That was their larval stage, before they morphed into their final form -MAGA.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't like this framing as it exonerate Republicans (even if that isn't what you intended).

These absolutely are Republicans, and this is what their party has been about since at least Watergate.

Republican is "maga" and "maga" is Republican. No difference.

Yep, congress could end all of this tomorrow. I think the R congressmen and senators need much more pressure. Trump acts like a lightling rod and draws everyone's attention. Congress should be feeling much more heat to do the right thing.

Just a reminder that the defense attorney, for the soldiers that gunned down the people during the Boston massacre, was none other than future president John Adams.

He successfully argued they were in fear for their lives.

American leaders have NEVER cared about the masses of people. It has always and will always defend and justify the actions of state violence as long as it benefits them to do so. The American revolution was very much just a transfer of power from the Royal British to the rich ruling class in the American colonies. And it has remained that way to this day.

What is happening now is nothing more than the ruling class resorting to fascist acts, once again, on its own population to maintain that power.

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

If I were a rich bastard and wanted to stay that way, pissing off the poors would be a thing to avoid. A placid sheep and trusting cow are much easier to exploit.

The 1% are incredibly stupid.

[–] pipi1234@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago

They are not stupid. They firmly believe that happy people are not productive at the level they want. And they want our 150% because they are hoping for AGI and other holy grail technologies to happen in their lifetimes. When you have everything the only goal left is to avoid losing it.

[–] NannerBanner@literature.cafe 5 points 3 days ago

Look, I would happily pull the trigger on the execution of a convicted ice, but defense attorneys exist for a reason. Yes, they're often scum. Yes, they often 'know' that their client is guilty (paraphrasing one, don't tell them you did the crime if you actually did it, it does make their job harder because they do have a duty to not lie in court) yet defend them as rabidly as a junkyard dog with a cat wandering in. Yes, they often posit logic or reasoning that makes the average person want to spit at them for their sheer gall. Yes! THEY GET SOME FUCKING SICK FUCKS LIGHTER SENTENCES OR EVEN 'OFF...'

But they are critical in a sane world where the law matters not just as a set of rules but also where there are people dedicated to truth, justice, and ensuring a short-lived tyrannical government cannot just throw people it doesn't like into jail based on allegations of crimes and get convictions based on whimsy.

John adams may have helped those six get off, and done it in a manner so similar to modern law enforcement court strategy that it assaults the nose with its stench, but don't smear him because he did that. Smear him for his presidential actions enforcing the class war.

And of course the party will say the crowd was engaging in domestic terrorism and all the fox/Newsmax brained dumbfuck morons will slop it up and continue to gobble up the cock of the fascist regime.

Are we ready for Lexington and Concord? Because anyone who's still clinging to the hope peaceful protesting will hold off martial law all the way to the election in November is about to get their fingers stomped on by ICE

[–] Carmakazi@piefed.social 15 points 4 days ago (2 children)

By that time the "minute men" were already a fairly well armed and organized militia, as far as militias go. I see no viable parallel today, even in nascent form.

Any armed group greater than around four people is compromised by federal law enforcement, the far right learned this decades ago.

[–] SoloCritical@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

Tell that to the Black Panthers who are actually being quite effective in their communities right now. There are a few videos of Black Panthers Philly that are pretty interesting recently. They should make every American proud. Standing up for not only their own rights but their communities rights.

[–] Curiousfur@lemmy.world 12 points 4 days ago

That's why the far right decided to compromise federal law enforcement

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 25 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Every day I am a little surprised that it hasn't happened yet.

I'm just going to point out, 6 of the 8 gunmen were acquitted at trial.

[–] Woht24@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

And the 2 that were prosecuted received a 'branding on the thumb'.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 12 points 4 days ago

Honestly I'm surprised it didn't happen already during the No Kings protests

[–] Eldritch_Alyx@lemmy.world 14 points 4 days ago (4 children)

By the middle of 2026, it will be the norm.

[–] Typhoon@lemmy.ca 22 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And there will still be people saying not to resist or they'll declare martial law.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 22 points 4 days ago

ICE escalates

"Don't respond with violence or they'll escalate!"

ICE escalates regardless

rinse and repeat.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (9 children)

There's an alternative...

It's super easy, would require zero bloodshed.

Armed protest.

I've never seen a cop shoot a protester when other protestors were in eyeshot with rifles.

I've never even seen ICE where a protestor is visibly armed, because if they see that, they fucking leave.

The reason shit is so bad is because ICE knows they'll never be held accountable in court. Literally the only way they believe they could ever face any consequences is if someone shoots them in the moment. And rather than behave when they see armed protestors, they just go to where no one is armed.

So fuck it, this Merica. Carry a big scary fuck off rifle.

I guarantee ICE won't run up on you. And if everywhere they went people showed up with rifles, they'd stop going places all together.
