“Dear Jonas,” the president wrote to Norway’s prime minister, Jonas Gahr Støre. “Considering your Country decided not to give me the Nobel Peace Prize for having stopped 8 Wars PLUS, I no longer feel an obligation to think purely of Peace, although it will always be predominant, but can now think about what is good and proper for the United States of America. Denmark cannot protect that land from Russia or China, and why do they have a ‘right of ownership’ anyway? There are no written documents, it’s only that a boat landed there hundreds of years ago, but we had boats landing there, also. I have done more for NATO than any other person since its founding, and now, NATO should do something for the United States. The World is not secure unless we have Complete and Total Control of Greenland. Thank you! President DJT.”

Dear Santa, Considering you decided not to give me a PS5 for Christmas, even though I was a VERY good boy, I no longer feel an obligation to clean my room or not say cusses, although being good will always be predominant, but now I have to think about what is good and proper for me. Why do other kids get a PS5 anyway, and why do they have a “right” to keep them? There are no written rules, it’s just that Santa gave them one a long time ago because their parents asked nicely. But I asked nicely too, many times, and I reminded everyone constantly how nice I was. I have done more chores than any other child since chores were invented, and now Santa should do something for me. Christmas is not secure unless I have Complete and Total Control of a PS5. Thank you! Very Good Boy DJT

He got the FIFA peace price. He didn't go to war with FIFA. The best president. The best. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

NFL better tighten up

"If you don't give me a Nobel Peace Prize I'll go to war with you."

If you don’t give me your candy I will punch you in the face.

"If you don't give me a Nobel Peace Prize I'll go to war with ~~you~~ the country I've confused for yours."

Someone should make a "Peace Participation Trophy", then present it to him.

How are we to tell our kids to "grow up" when they're acting immature when one of the most powerful men on the planet are acting like this publicly?

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 5 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago) (1 children)

Honestly, when folks at my job complain about Gen z work ethic, I just think....fuck man, why WOULD they. Like I'm old I get that I have to work to keep my community afloat based solely on principle and a desire to live in a moderately decent place but they don't have decades of experience to teach them that. All they see is any opportunity for growth squashed more and more every day.... Like why would they care? How could they motivate to even try? Edit: fat finger spelling

That's why I have some hope for Gen Z and Alpha. They're seeing all this and we need to tell them how things were before the billionaires truly tried to take over. Unfortunately we can't get the Boomers to do anything because they're too busy committing generational warfare.

8 wars PLUS! So many after 8 we stopped counting and now we don't even know what the number is. Thank God that peace will still be predominant, despite Donald not feeling any obligation towards it.

[–] Asfalttikyntaja@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 hours ago

I’m sure he said “8 PLUS” because he doesn’t know what comes next to eight.

[–] bampop@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

I just don't understand why he isn't feeling that obligation after being awarded the Fifa Peace Prize, which is the only peace prize that matters.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 35 points 16 hours ago

The proof is that the entire upper tier of the Executive Branch has completely lost its shit and is crewed by morons. Last time around there were adults in the room that reeled in his worst impulses even though he'd sneak a gainer in once in a while. This time? They're a clown car stuffed with ideologues, racists, and fools with the brake pedal ripped out.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 13 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

everyone is shocked I tell you SHOCKED! now what the fuck is going to be done about it? Is he just going to be allowed to steamroll and conquer neighboring countries forever while the news keeps saying "surely this is the last straw"? Why don't other countries cut off the Untied States financially until it behaves?

[–] Auli@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

Because they can't. It well hurt they're GDP and citizens. No more phones no more laptops. The world is to reliant on the US and it's companies.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 5 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

No more phones no more laptops.

The only thing it would truly affect is Apple; Samsung could offer de-googled phones in the blink of an eye.

Hell, we don't even make the cellphones or laptops here. China has its own stuff. If a single one of the hardware manufacturers dedicated a couple of months to an open source driver project, we could have Linux phones by EOY.

[–] jacksilver@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago (2 children)

A lot of the technology inside a phone is still dependent on US patents and/or manufactured parts. It may seem like one country makes this or that, but that's not actually how it works. If you look online you'll see the lowest number is around 40 countries for an iPhone.

[–] CrabAndBroom@lemmy.ml 3 points 3 hours ago

I feel like if the US can ignore the sovereignty of Denmark, the founding principles of NATO and pretty much the entirety of international law, the rest of us shouldn't really stress too much about US patents TBH.

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 hours ago

US patents and/or manufactured parts

US what now? We're not making any parts. We are, at best, assembling some things; Tealistically, we're just fucking boxing shit these days. And patents? Once you're in an actual trade war, who in the hell cares about a country's IP claims?

You can get a black market iphone in China, not once piece has to pass through the US, the tricky part is getting the apple store and apps if they decide to blacklist your serial number.

[–] ElSacapunta@retrolemmy.com 3 points 6 hours ago

China has entered the convo

Lol, that letter reads like something a third grader wrote.

"Dear Santa, since you decided not to give me a Nintendo for Christmas, I no longer feel like I need to clean my room and not say bad words. I have done more chores than any other person..."

Really? This is what does it.

Not all his other deranged bullshit – this?

Fine, I’ll take it, but you’d better be fucking serious, US, or your own credibility is gone.

Do something about it! Now!

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 1 points 4 hours ago

Not many people are in a hurry to get shot in the face.

Many protests are going on, but nothing that will affect them.

I worry that general strike won't work because with so much WFH, anyone that can't scab without being seen will

Trump has only killed one infant, and thrown it in a lake. He's only human, Norway, sheesh.
