So is this a way for Russia to be on the board by proxy and profit from the continued (Western for about a century, but now I guess mixed?) colonization of Gaza or are these countries just following their own policies with no benefit to Russia?

[–] hemko@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Nope.

Russia was invited directly

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, so did they not accept? Or did they just exclude them from the list on OP's image? Regardless, thanks for the clarification. 👍

It's just like prom season, Putin has so many handsome suitors it's really a tough decision. Wouldn't want to be in his tiny shoes!

Mmmmhh. Thank you. 👍

Let's be honest: There's nothing profitable in Gaza. If you want to build hotels or resorts, it is way easier to build them everywhere else on the coast. Somewhere where there is not the debris of war around everywhere, a radicalized poor population with weapons and radical terror groups. Every developer is better off building that resort in Egypt, Turkey, Spain, Greece or Italy. Gaza has no natural ressources, no industry and is small as fuck. So whatever all of that is about, there is no profit to be made

Weapons and surveillance testing. There's plenty of money being made

Where do you think the BoP delegations will have to stay for their bi-weekly meetings?

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 28 points 1 month ago (3 children)

How the fuck you gonna lead a country and fall for this grift from a known grifter?

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 24 points 1 month ago

"Lead a country" does not mean "win free and fair elections"

For Belarus, Lukashenko is the only President it ever had and super Trumpy-authoritarian. USSR broke up, he took Belarus. Since 2000 it's basically been part of Russia (see Union State )

Kazakhstan is basically the same, except there were like 2 Presidents before the current one (Tokayev). Again, all Trumpy-authoritarian, just lording over a small economy & military instead of the world's largest.

This is literally the breakdown of the world order.

For the love of God, Europe/Canada/Australia/Japan get a spine and CUT USA OUT!

For the love of country, will the fucking Congress IMPEACH THIS ASSHAT BEFORE HE COMPLETELY WASTES OUR INHERITANCE?!?!?

Probably because the $1b buy in had a personal $100m cash back program.

Some people love making poor decisions

So the 'Board of Peace' consists of the USA + 4 countries whose citizens aren't allowed entry into the USA.

[–] saimen@feddit.org 18 points 1 month ago

Somehow feels like he is just trying to form an axis for the upcoming world war.

Board of corruption

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Only a matter of time until they invite North Korea and Turkmenistan.

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 9 points 1 month ago

You mean the country that recently started executing people for operating HAM radios? That Belarus?

This is Bush's Coalition of the Willing all over again but stupider.

Post lacks web accessibility and web connectivity. 😞Images of text break much that text alternatives do not. Losses due to image of text lacking alternative such as link:

  • usability
    • we can't quote the text without pointless bullshit like retyping it or OCR
    • text search is unavailable
    • the system can't
      • reflow text to varied screen sizes
      • vary presentation (size, contrast)
      • vary modality (audio, braille)
  • accessibility
    • lacks semantic structure (tags for titles, heading levels, sections, paragraphs, lists, emphasis, code, links, accessibility features, etc)
    • some users can't read the image due to lack of alt text (markdown image description)
    • users can't adapt the text for dyslexia or vision impairments
    • systems can't read the text to them or send it to braille devices
  • web connectivity
    • we have to do failure-prone bullshit to find the original source
    • we can't explore wider context of the original message
  • authenticity: we don't know the image hasn't been tampered
  • searchability: the "text" isn't indexable by search engine in a meaningful way
  • fault tolerance: no text fallback if
    • image breaks
    • image host is geoblocked due to insane regulations.

Contrary to age & humble appearance, text is an advanced technology that provides all these capabilities absent from images.

Trump makes a board of peace and of course the only guys in it are corrupt dictators

[–] couldhavebeenyou@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 month ago

Here's hoping they livestream

[–] Zier@fedia.io 4 points 1 month ago

There was a typo by trump, it's not Board, it's Bored. Because he is an angry fat rapist and he is bored with peace. Join the Bored Of Peace (cult).

Like a real source? There's a Reuters Article and archive link if needed

Wikipedia has a list and a few other nations have joined

[–] mannycalavera@feddit.uk 8 points 1 month ago

Wait those links aren't to The Onion?

Fuck. Me.
