Sonofabitch.

Welp, good luck Texans.

Your grid is going down again.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Ah yes the yearly service interruptions brought to you by the superior free market.

What is wrong with a company spiking the price of electricity by 4,000%? Don't like it just switch to another company that will do the same thing. Choice is wonderful.

You second college class in MacroEcon, or an AP Macro Econ course... generally goes over how cartels are bad, and the government tends to run utilities because if they don't, you get the exact situation that Texas has.

[–] tehn00bi@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago

He’s not on a chartered flight? I find that hard to believe.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 28 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

As long as Texans are dumb enough to vote for this asshole again and again, he does not need to worry.

[–] AquaTofana@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago

And they are, which is so fucking frustrating. I will never not be salty about Colin Allred losing to him. I really thought they'd be irate over him fleeing Snowpocalypse and Texans actively dying INSIDE their homes in 2021.

But no, he won the fucking popular vote. Again.

Also, as someone who moved from Texas to Cali: Fuck off Fled Cruz we don't fucking want you or your ilk in this state.

Also, also, I find it extremely funny that he's leaving Texas ahead of the winter storm again, and I'm heading back to Texas tomorrow to surprise a friend for her birthday. I wish I wasnt living through Snowmaggeden 2: Electric Boogaloo to be quite honest.

[–] Jango_Fettish@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

They actually think that though.

[–] AdolfSchmitler@lemmy.world 22 points 5 hours ago

And he'll still get re-elected. He doesn't give a fuck about his supporters but they don't care. Being left for dead in the cold is still better than voting for a lib amirite?

And coach, at that. Makes me wonder if it's AI. But congresspeople aren't always lavish and rich outside of their day jobs, and we know that Cruz is a glutton for degradation.

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 1 points 7 minutes ago* (last edited 4 minutes ago)

I wonder how long the flight was.

"Hey Ted, Ted, Ted, Ted, Ted, Ted Cruz....can you hear me?... hey! hey! Ted! TED! TEDDY! Remember when Trump called your wife a fat pig? Hey, answer me! Hey, Ted listen, listen, listen, listen, over here Ted....Hey. Hey. Ted, will none of those rich dudes let you barrow a private jet? Do you clog the toilets up or what? Ted, Ted, Ted, Teddy! Teddo! Teddoboy!"

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Dems need a Mamdani or a Platner in Texas.

Not milquetoast conservatives like Beto O'Rourke.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 10 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I was gonna say. Didn't he do this last time when everyone's water pipes froze and the power went out?

[–] KhantoBlackhand@lemmy.today 8 points 4 hours ago

Yep Cancun Cruz loves to act like foreskin and disappears when things get hard.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 6 points 5 hours ago

Twice is a coincidence, thrice is a pattern.

[–] FreddiesLantern@leminal.space 50 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

Is this that same Cruz who called to stop attacking pedofiles? The same one who went to Cancun? The one ended up working like a dog for a man who insulted his wife? Or is it the one who staged immigrants crossing the border?

That Cruz?

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 16 points 8 hours ago

Yeah he also once ran for human president.

Cuck Cruz

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)
[–] InputZero@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago

Of course not. He's a Republican.

[–] Hozerkiller@lemmy.ca 9 points 7 hours ago

Honestly he did less harm as the Zodiac Killer.

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Silly Rafael

[–] SparroHawc@lemmy.zip 5 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

When the going gets tough, the tough get going.

To Laguna Beach, apparently.

(I kid. Calling Cruz 'tough' is like calling meringue 'dense'.)

[–] human@slrpnk.net 26 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Someone needs to check his house for abandoned dogs.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 23 points 9 hours ago

Kristi can deal with those.

[–] MunkyNutts@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Never heard of the Waffle House Index, I find it comical that the FEMA uses it, informally.

[–] some_kind_of_guy@lemmy.world 4 points 6 hours ago

Hey, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. It really only works in the South though. Trying to think of what the New England equivalent would be... Dunks index? Society would start breaking down if the plow guys can't get their iced coffee fix. Cup rattling sounds

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 102 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

That's what he does. He runs home when the cold comes.

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 5 points 6 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 1 points 5 hours ago

Oh shit, I made the mistake of thinking his name suggested his cursed origin.

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 63 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

I still don't understand why people call him Ted...

His name is Raphael, and always was up until he needed to trick white supremacists into thinking he was white too

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 30 points 10 hours ago (1 children)
[–] normonator@lemmy.ml 29 points 10 hours ago (10 children)

Forget about that part. We got rid of him, he's your problem now.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 hours ago

yeah we scraped that shit off our shoe....

[–] halfeatenpotato@sh.itjust.works 12 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Aren't you people supposed to be nice?

The polite thing to do would be to pick up your own garbage and toss it yourself.

[–] VieuxQueb@lemmy.ca 8 points 8 hours ago

He self advertised as pure scum being and the americans from the south grabbed him like he was made of gold. You took it you keep it.

Patterns like this are why people notice optics so quickly—leadership moments tend to stand out most when things get tough

[–] nexguy@lemmy.world 16 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (3 children)

~~He said he will be back before the storm... so he is going on a 24hr vacation out if the country? ~~

Edit: Oh I thought I read cancun somewhere

[–] Viking_Hippie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Last time I was there, Laguna Beach was very much inside of the US, ridiculous right wing rhetoric about California being "unamerican" aside.

That said, I'd trust 100% human Senator Ted Cruz to beat the 100m world record before I trust him to be telling the unvarnished truth.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 8 points 8 hours ago

Supposed to rain today in Laguna Beach which makes this even stupider

And they'll reelect him next round too.

[–] HotsauceHurricane@lemmy.world 4 points 7 hours ago

Oh lord he back on his bullshit.

never off his bullshit

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 2 points 6 hours ago

Yeah, that's his move. Such a leader.

[–] Mauriciobravo@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago

Honestly, patterns like this feel funny because they tap into shared experience—people notice routines and coincidences. Even if it’s tongue-in-cheek, it’s a reminder how we all look for signals when things feel uncertain.
