Not sure what it is like in other countries, but you should know that it is extremely RARE in US politics for a former president to speak out against the current president. Even rarer to issue a formal statement.

RELATED COMMUNITIES:
Yeah, that's cute. We're a little past the point where the ruffling of the ruling class' powdered wigs impresses anyone.
Not sure the little kids screaming for their parents care.
I don't think folks getting their faces kicked and scraped against the pavement care.
It was also rare for the current president to bitch about past presidents. Or sell cars, phones, etc.
"I love tessler!"

At least in my lifetime, every president has commented critically about the previous administration.
You're absolutely right that US presidents have historically not used their position for personal profit, or at least not overtly so. Jimmy Carter famously sold his potato farm upon being elected in order to avoid potential conflict of interest.
Oh, sorry, I might not have been aware of much of the smaller things (I'm not from them USA parts) - but I was trying to make the distinction between 'polite criticism for distancing themselves from the previous admin' (something all politicians do on all political levels, even in cases of direct policy/friendship/spiritual succession, even in companies actually, it enables the new admin to be their own distinct thing & get traction among the people & coworkers sooner) & just bitching for the sake of it, calling names etc.
Also wasn't it a peanut farm?
Side note: this being a rarity is probably a net good thing. History shows that when the old guy and the new guy fight, it doesn't bring unity or peaceful transfers of power which are arguably more important than the bad one getting whatever they deserve.
Trump is never mentioned in his letter.
Not explicitly, no, but he's referenced by "The people in charge."
That's what cowards do. Why not call out the biggest fascist in the country who's responsible for pretty much all the shit. Trump enabled all the killings and lying and corruption. I guess he might be wanting a second blowjob.
Because Trump isn't the only one responsible.
Clinton is problematic as fuck, but holy shit the difference between reading this and the "your mom" outrageously stupid sounding bullshit the current admin puts out is so remarkable. I do so miss having smart people at the top. Say what you want about Clinton and Obama, at least both were wicked smart and able to communicate well.
It's my job to communicate complex ideas to a general audience in clear, concise ways. I've been doing it for 30 years, and I still sometimes fuck it up. Communication is hard, and it's amazing that it ever works. But watching the general level of public discourse become a race to the bottom has felt like the worsening of an infected wound.
I usually refer to marketing/advertising as the dark arts, half-jokingly. I'm not joking here. What MAGA's done with language is a literal curse.
I take special note in Stephen Miller repeatedly calling the protestors "insurrectionists".
It's a total propaganda bitch slap to the stupid.
"Remember when lots of angry people made one side mad and you learned the word insurrectionist? That's how we use it now. Don't look back."
I don't know if this tactic has a name in rhetoric, but it is a cancer that seems to grow larger than the educated via the uneducated.
Clinton being all over the Epstein Files really undercuts any decorum hes got.
Idgaf how well he spoke if he was abusing underage girls.
well, he's being compared to someone who was also abusing underage girls.
This timeline is fucked
He’s called for all the files to be released, fwiw
Clinton would be problematic even without all the nasty sexual stuff
Except, you helped significantly get us here, Bill.
You and you shitty fucking wife, not only moved the Overton Window MUCH further right with your presidency, but you and your wife forced themselves upon Dem voters in 2016 regardless of the fact you were and are both insanely unpopular with the voter base.
You're an asshole. Hillary is an asshole. You both enabled this shit, and should be held accountable too.
... and the statement is typical of the milquetoast "strongly worded letter" response that made Democrats into the weak hand they are now
We now live in a world where Slick Willy is a voice of reason.
We already lived in a world where Dan Quayle saved Democracy, at least for a few years
Do you mean caused the defeat and put curious George in the whitehouse? That shite family was the worst for your country and helped get you where you are today.
No. I mean calmly explained to Pence that there was no way to legally justify doing what Trump wanted him to.
I understand the criticism of Clinton. I would also appreciate it more if people from ALL parties, especially the GOP would step up for basic human rights and if they would write such letters
Guess who signed the bill to tear down regulations on media companies that made such awful, blatant dishonesty more difficult?
This belongs in leopards in eating faces.
Oh, so you're gonna give a call to action then? Maybe designate a day for a national strike? Call out individuals most responsible and push for their impeachment? Call for boycotts of companies? Anything like that?
No? Just general words and a subtle wish that things will magically get better?
Ok, thanks Billy.
Can’t be a day, any protest has to last until the desired change happens otherwise it’s a party.
Deregulation champ weary about lack or regulation.
And then Trump read the message and was like "dude, I have to be good now!"..
Is that all they do in the opposition? Writing letters? No wonder you guys are all going to hell.
Words are great and all, but please put your money where your mouth is, Bill.
You don’t have to go Unabomber but funding has impact, too. If anything, it’s the only language besides violence that works here.
- He dictated from a comfy chair in his mansion
He had to release as statement because he's the embassador of Epstein Island, Trump's former position.
Bill Clinton tweet: Everything Slick Willy should say
Angry Leftists: Bah! You suuuuuck! Fuck you Clinton! BlAARghh! DEAaaaaaTH! Deth to ALL!1
Me: Huh.
It's a nice tweet and I agree with it but I'd rather he was testifying about what he did on Epstein's island
I would like him to testify in front of competent people. I mean with the republican party questioning him do you really think they're going to ask him anything interesting when so many many answers would likely be: "Hey I was there with half your political party, just ask the president and all your colleages who were there." I do hope the contempt goes through because if it goes to an actual court you might get some names.
My prediction of his testimony of Epstein Island: "I saw, but I didn't partake."
Just wait for the 'contempt' power play. If the House follows through, Clintons get discovery! Oops....
Yeah people really struggle to hold two thoughts at once these days
What actions of a lifetime are you (Bill, not OP) suggesting to stop ICE?
Slam!
