Head on collisions not interesting enough? Try adding cacti to your dashboard!

[–] Bluegrass_Addict@lemmy.ca 15 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

don't forget the increased humidity in the car

[–] Rhaedas@fedia.io 13 points 2 hours ago

The plants will die long before that. Is there a plant abuse hotline?

[–] plantfanatic@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

What do you imagine that will do to the vehicle?

[–] officermike@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

Deteriorate headliner backing, steering wheel, shift knob, fabric door panel adhesive, armrest, makes every surface tacky to the touch and leaves goobery gunk on all the touchable surfaces

Bro, those are succulents. They get watered like once a week, tops. They're not going to affect the humidity to such a degree that it causes deterioration.

How do you think vehicles in humid places last? Lol.

It’s also going to do no more damage than having a hot coffee. People come up with wild things sometimes.

Should have spelled "FRONT TOWARD ENEMY"

Congratulations, you turned your steering wheel into a claymore.

No way that would work in the Southwest United States in the summer. The succulents would die during the day in 150°F parked car, or dry out in 30 mins in the 200°F dash. The cactus would die at night when their pores fail to open because it’s still 110°F at 3:30am. In addition to the claymore comments, this idea is stupid on so many levels.

I had a little succulent leaf fall off a plant while it was in the back of my car, by the time I noticed it, it had fully rooted to the carpet. I gently untangled it and planted it in some dirt outside though.

Cars get pretty hot in the summer.

And what keeps them from cooking alive in the summer rotting and smelling up your car?

[–] SinningStromgald@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

That's a solid no from me.
