Wasn't there also an incident filming this where the thickness of the suit saved him from a monkey ferociously attacking his balls? I'm remembering this story from somewhere LOL.

"We didn't plan it that way, but Danny DeVito drove to work in a car shaped like a duck. He was already in makeup from the previous day and he just started driving all over the set. Luckily, we were already filming so we just kept the cameras rolling..."

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

There's no way that duck is street-legal.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 10 points 8 hours ago

"Then we went back in time fifty years and created the character of The Penguin."

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 37 points 12 hours ago

I really want this to be true

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 31 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Given the opportunity to drive a six wheeler duck mobile up a flight of stairs? I'd do that shit for free.

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 6 points 8 hours ago

Me too - it looks like real fun. Hell, they would have to take a break for an hour or so, to make sure i have enough time driving around the DuckMobile. Only way to get me to stop would be to offer the BatMobile as a replacement (until the DuckBatteries are charged again, then it is Quacking Time again!)

Daniel Michael DeVito Jr, you rapscallion.

Driving with such poor sight lines ain't safe, Penguin.

one of those scenarios which makes you wonder if they chose danny devito to play frank reynolds, or if they got the opportunity to work with danny devito and wrote frank reynolds based off of him.

this is frank reynolds behavior

They were told by the Studio that they needed to add a veteran actor to the cast for season two, Danny was one of the choices so obviously they picked him

Weirdly one of the times where exec meddling actually saved a show.

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

You've got a point there.

I watched Deck The Halls recently and he's basically Frank in that.

Frank isn't a character, it's just Dan

[–] fitjazz@sh.itjust.works 11 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I have always liked Owen Wilson's acting but after meeting him I realized they he isn't really acting in most of his movies, he is just delivering lines as himself. I still like his movies it was just kind of a neat realization.

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 hours ago

"Wowh" pouty lips. I feel like I'd like him as a guy (no idea about any controversy) but such predictability is just boring imo.

[–] notwhoyouthink@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 hours ago

I just watched that movie for the first time last holiday season, and it was easily my favorite that I rewatched at least twice.

As a big Always Sunny fan, I agree with you. Frank didn’t go full warthog in the movie, but definitely still Frank but in a suburban setting.

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 4 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

I sure hope Danny Devito isn't as racist and sexist and bourgeois as Frank.

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 9 points 9 hours ago

He campaigned for Bernie I think hes at least not consciousnessly bad but hes also like 70 so idk whether hes progressive for his age or progressive for our times.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 11 hours ago

If I recall, he's actually awesome

[–] Alcoholicorn@mander.xyz 21 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

his duck vehicle?

If Danny Devito didn't already own a duck vehicle before the movie, nobody tell me.

[–] Vathsade@lemmy.ca 3 points 8 hours ago

See top comment :)

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 16 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

IASIP should really track this vehicle down and use it on the next series

[–] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 7 hours ago

I've been thinking about this, I think it's just the chassis of an argocat with a duck pedalo attached

As in, pretty easy to make

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 6 points 12 hours ago (3 children)
[–] SirSamuel@lemmy.world 8 points 9 hours ago

The movie is Batman Returns (1992)

If you're looking for verification that this is true, exhibit A is that this is Danny De-goddamned-Vito

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 6 points 12 hours ago

Ranch, please.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 11 hours ago

Batman Returns I think?

[–] CuriousRefugee@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I suddenly want to go out and buy Jersey Mike's...

[–] ThanksObama@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 hours ago

Don't do it. Mike sold out last year, it's now Jersey Private Equity's.
