Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

-79 grams

Honestly, I believe them. It looks like something that would have negative mass.

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 12 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And -5 programmable buttons.

I don't have an explanation for that one. Does it disable keyboard keys?

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

Instructions:

  • Unpack your new anti-gravity mouse
  • Make sure it is fully charged before powering on. Use only the USB cable not included
  • Power on your mouse, it will enter pairing mode
  • Throw your mouse at your keyboard until 5 keys are removed
Warm tip: key removal may take multiple attempts due to the unit's negative mass

It's really not that much work. Just completely disassemble the mouse, put the shell in your ultrasonic parts cleaner for 30 to 60 minutes, then dunk in plastic-safe disinfectant solution. Rinse with deionized water, dry with filtered compressed air, and reassemble. I keep 3 in rotation so I always have one ready to go and another in reserve.

If you can't afford to invest 2 hours in basic maintenance each night maybe stick to whatever came with your prebuilt Costco PC.

costco normies owned 🥺

The sweat dripping down will let the bouncing Doritos crumbs stick and fossilize into gamer stalactites

[–] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 days ago

I thought it was a cycling helmet until I read the text.

[–] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Imagine if it came with a matching cycling helmet

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Imagine how even more ridiculous cyclists would look with a mouse like this.

[–] Swedneck@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 3 days ago

is it intentionally designed to look reversed? like that's clearly a slot for the scrollwheel closest to the camera

[–] shirasho@feddit.online 21 points 3 days ago

Not the worst idea I've seen. I imagine the increased air circulation would help prevent some cheese. Obviously this would not be for the people who like high dpi + high weight mice.

I have a white M1. These are dope.

[–] tyler@programming.dev 8 points 3 days ago

I’m very confused what the nightmare is here.

[–] caurvo@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

There is a whole world of ultralight mice out there. Did wonders for wrist, instead of using the anvil of an MX Master which ruined it.

Good for you. I also bought one recently. I hate it, though, and only use it for travel.
I need something that stays on the ground and not move upwards along the Z-axis when handling it due to its sheer lightness.

I think about things like this the same as bullshit ormolu furniture. Sure, it looks interesting. But it will get dirty. And it will be a pain fully in, up, and around the ass to clean.
