This should be illegal. In fact, it probably is.

He's not "taking it" from "his IRS." He's stealing it from Americans who can barely pay their bills.

The entire premise of the lawsuit was frivolous and corrupt, and the IRS engaging in any settlement talks that involve any payment whatsoever should be criminally prosecuted as conversion of public funds.

[–] Kirp123@lemmy.world 51 points 5 days ago (2 children)

He's blatantly robbing the American taxpayers. People should be out in the streets for this.

Let's pretend for a second this whole thing is not completely bonkers.

The lawsuit alleges the IRS and Treasury Department failed to prevent the leak of Trump’s tax returns between 2018 and 2020 by former contractor Charles Littlejohn, who was later sentenced to five years in prison.

How on earth is that worth 10 Billion? What damages has this done do the orange turd?

An attempt to make him accountable like every other president's published tax returns before him. He does not let himself be held accountable for anything whatsoever.

[–] mephiska@fedia.io 59 points 5 days ago (1 children)

fuck everything about this. If this goes to a situation where he settles with the government office he controls, the people need to sue him, personally, to stop this.

[–] ClownStatue@piefed.social 3 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Unfortunately, would have to happen after he’s out of office, but that would have to be the single largest class-action lawsuit in history!

American Taxpayers vs. Donald Trump

I want to see this so bad.

Nationalize everything his family owns. Sell it off, add to a fund for universal Healthcare

[–] wonderingwanderer@sopuli.xyz 1 points 4 days ago

He would just die and give it all to his family, who would then claim some sort of immunity from the consequences of his actions that they directly benefited from...

Everybody knocks him for being a bad businessman for bankrupting all those casinos, but that wasn't poor business, it was a successful business model. He'd buy a casino, loot it for every bit of profit, run up the bills and stiff the vendors, and when it all collapsed, file for bankruptcy, and walk away. Then buy another casino, and start over.

It was the perfect scam for a money launderer, which his is his primary occupation, until he couldn't get away with it anymore.

So now he's just doing the same thing to the US Government, looting it for every bit of profit he can steal. I saw an estimation that at this level of spending, he will be responsible for 55% of the national debt when he leaves in 2028, and that was BEFORE he started his war, which is going to go on forever.

Stealing everything he can has always been the plan, and when this is over and he's going to prison, or death row, every single penny of his entire fortune should be confiscated. And his demonic nepo-baby offspring, too. They won't need it, they'll all be in prison, too, leaving his grandchildren destitute and in foster care, carrying a name that will be as reviled in history as Hitler.

Casinos are like money printing machines. It's incredibly hard to not make money with a casino. Having one is like owning a never ending gold mine. Even if gutting and dipping was his plan it's still bad business. He stood to make way more money over the long term.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 18 points 5 days ago (2 children)

You're missing the point: operating a casino wasn't his business, money laundering was. He didn't want the long-term responsibility of a casino, with its overhead and regulations and taxes and employees and liquor licenses, yadda-yadda. Besides, a casino operates on only about a 1% profit, and requires a massive volume of gamblers to make big money, as well as an intelligent focused operator who can keep a handle on all the expenses, and bring that 1% profit home.

So sure, it's a viable business, but that all sounds like real work to a dummy like him. He just wanted a vehicle to launder massive amounts of Russian mobster cash, and a casino is the perfect cash business to run it through.

Destroying viable businesses for profit has always been a business model. It's how Mitt Romney and others made entire fortunes. Look at Toys R Us. It was a successful profitable business until it was bought and systematically stripped of its profitable assets. Some people make money by operating businesses, and others are simply predators and parasites.

Theres 10x better money laundering schemes lol he's an idiot dude. Don't fall for the propaganda he puts out.

Trump makes is money on his image nothing more. If your going to laundry money there are way better more stable vehicles.

He's just a shitty business man.

[–] MrFinnbean@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Just want to say that even if the basic casino has low profit margin, it gives nice foundation for other revenue streams. Lodging, food, drink, merch, shows, tournaments, conferences, events etc.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

Trumps too stupid and lazy for all that. Easy and quick is all he is looking for.

[–] innermachine@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

If you haven't heard it the song lootkemia by chuuwee is now a decade old and talks about how many people make boat loads off bankrupting businesses (among other things)

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

scams, by definition, are not business models…

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 3 points 5 days ago

That's old school business ethics. This is the 21st Century. Anything goes.

Trump is pulling off the greatest scam in the history of humankind, and he is not even trying to hide it, he is doing it openly. Meanwhile Americans are not even rioting, they are just standing by and watching in awe. Its fucking insane.

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 23 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

I posted this months ago (which has since been deleted but it's on my profile)

Step 1: Become President

Step 2: As a private citizen, sue the government for billions of dollars

Step 3: As President, order to settle the lawsuit

Step 4: Profit

Trump figured out the step before profit.

[–] Nacktmull@lemmy.world 12 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Yes and that is just one of his schemes. He is also selling pardons. laws that favor certain industries, wars, ceasefires, and relevant intel that enables insider trading. Its corruption without limits because its the president doing it. He exploits the system on all levels, and the American people are letting him get away with it.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

This is banana republic type of bullshit.

But they don't call them the Banana Republicans for nothing...

[–] HubertManne@piefed.social 11 points 5 days ago

trump steals 10billions dollars from taxpayers.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 11 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

That's it! WTF! Give that money back asshole! My local school can't even feed the kids and I donate pencils. And healthcare, that can fund healthcare!

Get this clown out of here!

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I think autocorrect may have changed the word "git," or "get" to "Her."
