Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

What does he have to do to be taken seriously? Wake the fuck up, America, the jig is up, there is no more democracy, you'll be lucky if there continues to be a pretense of democracy much longer. Fuck anyone who says it's only for four years

[–] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

Okay. I thought about it like you asked and I seem to have very quickly reached a different conclusion. Thanks for the suggestion to think about it.

I don't see a need for a president now that I think about it

Naa we really don't need a president, many of the founders were against it. Worried about another king or consolation of power.

What'd ya know...only 250 years later and they were right.

[–] newton@feddit.online 8 points 2 days ago

Taco is not a president ,just garbage

“I have the right to do a lot of things that people don’t even know about.”

Well, that's true... let's start with "You have the right to remain silent... you have the right to an attorney..."

When Cheney took all that power back in the PATRIOT Act days, i remember thinking "God help us if someone like Donald Trump ever gets that kind of power."

Well, here we are.

“You have the right to not be pegged by a crane-lifted piledriver.

Gif for reference.
animated gif of a crane lifted like driver driving a heavy concrete prefab pile.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 7 points 2 days ago (2 children)

What if you want to be pegged by a crane-lifted pile driver?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That’s between you and the pile driver

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 4 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

What about the pile driver driver?

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago

And do you need a special ppa to download pile driver drivers for Linux?

[–] FuglyDuck@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

This is solved with automation. Alternatively I suppose they might be into that, too.

Rights for all, or rights for none.

So being subjected to a Mrs Peggy there is something for him and all the other chucklefucks to think about

[–] Wataba@sh.itjust.works 20 points 2 days ago (3 children)

Use it or lose it.

Congrats non-voters.

Don't worry, the accelerationists have been promising that letting everything get way worse will lead to genuine change. I'm sure they'll be starting that socialist uprising any day now!

Aaaaany day now...

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I have the "pleasure" of knowing a few of those types.

They are so fucking exhausting. I don't know what's worse - the die-hard Libertarians that carry that bullshit fantasy throughout their lives, or the armchair Marxist theorist chin-scratchers that think the Democrats are equally bad as Republicans and always want to give you a long-winded think-piece about it.

At least some of the Libertarians drain some votes away from Republicans.

They became much worse after October of 2023, though. I guess if they focus on the economics side they are not quite as annoying, and a bit more grounded, but some of them just cannot drop the voter-repellent, like intersectionality and checking your privilege and taking the maximalist position on culture war issues and so on. The best part? Most of them are proud that they don't even vote.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

I wonder if the sanctimonious fucks who wouldn't vote because if Israel are happy now

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago

At a certain point it's the opposition party's fault, and we are way way past that point.

[–] TryingToBeGood@reddthat.com 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Oh yes we should. Vote early, vote often.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

So has everyone now accepted that he will run for the 3rd term? Did I miss the legal pushback?

[–] Zexks@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

There was none and wont be any. There seems to be this idea that the states just wont do it. Which is fucking stupid but yeah here we are with a pedophile in the white house so...

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

Wasn't there a state that tried to leave him off the ballot but we're overruled?

[–] Freeposity@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

He will certainly solicit donations for a third run.
