They're "conserving" the values of a white supremacist society that started with native genocide and financed their growth through slavery, coups, incursions, etc... Maybe their grandchildren will rethink that position, who knows.

The 'father' of modern Conservatism was William Buckley.

He was a Catholic who ignored the fact that back in the day Catholics were widely discriminated against.

He also ignored the fact that the only reason he was well known was that he had a show on Public Television.

They are in favor of change as long as it benefits them.

I'd say it's the "wrong" people benefiting that's the problem.

Conservatives want to oppress. If they see other people besides themselves benefiting, they get mad.
