Pathmanathan contacted at least 145 young victims between March 2014 and his arrest on March 10, 2021, while posing as a teenage boy from New Jersey.

Throughout this sextortion scheme, he demanded victims engage in sexually explicit conduct via video chat and threatened to send recordings to their friends and family if they refused or blocked his accounts.

Pardons aren't free. This asshole can't pay. And that is the only question that matters in this USA, can you pay?

[–] OldChicoAle@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Did every Jan 6 rioter pay? Who paid for that?

[–] 6244901@lemmy.zip 0 points 1 month ago

ALPHA DELTA PHI!

[–] rwrwefwef@sh.itjust.works -2 points 1 month ago

Absolutely no one said that.

[–] mrdown@lemmy.world 31 points 1 month ago (1 children)

How the hell it is not multiple life sentences?

[–] EvergreenGuru@lemmy.world 29 points 1 month ago (3 children)

He’s doing 12 years in Canada, and will then be sent to the US for his 33 year sentence (assuming the US still exists once the Canadians release him).

[–] TheReanuKeeves@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

I'm not a lawyer or judge but by my calculations, that's still 145 life sentences too short

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Sadly, the Trump Regime will pardon him

[–] Saffire@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

Trump can't pardon him in Canada at least.

Did he ever actually release these videos to their friends and family? I ask because fraud experts say they never do, and if they did, no one would care, not for long, plus now you can say it's a deep fake.

Never pay them a cent. Laugh, then block. If you pay they will be back for more later.

While I like a good portmanteau, I was thinking the story was about a sexy contortionist and was thinking why that is illegal

[–] jestho@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago

I don't think they should be targeting kids either, though

[–] AnalogRegression@lemmy.world 25 points 1 month ago (1 children)

It's called child exploitation, "sextortion" makes it sound like a Cirque du Soleil performance.

[–] benjirenji@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 month ago

Yeah, wtf is this expression? Are we trying to make it sound cool now?

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 1 month ago

Hot tip: try 1600 Pennsylvania Ave next

[–] nul9o9@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

He better be hung by his dick for those 33 years, wtf.

[–] sunbeam60@feddit.uk 5 points 1 month ago

Whether rightly or wrongly, the other inmates are likely to provide that kind of service.

[–] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

May he know the same fear he put into those kids.

[–] miked@piefed.social 3 points 1 month ago

He's going to prison as a child molester. other inmates will not have him in constant fear.

40 years old when sentenced would make him 73 when released unless some bullshit probation/early release comes along.

[–] rwrwefwef@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

That's 33 more years than for Epstein and company combined.
