Conservatives were doing that long before Trump came along. People literally voted for Bush just because they could imagine themselves having a beer with the guy.

To be fair, Bill Clinton got away with a lot because of his "aw shucks" approach to stuff. But at least he was a half decent leader from what I can remember.

Wasn't Bill Clinton connected to the Epstein circle?

[–] Ariselas@piefed.ca 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parsing_Bill I think mostly because of this painting. Bill found his own inappropriate relationships and didn't need Epstein's help .

That is insanely funny

[–] gankouskhan@piefed.zip 4 points 1 month ago

So what you are saying is that we should hold him accountable to his crimes so we can home the rest to theirs? Fucking deal where do we sign?

[–] FederatedFreedom1981@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago

Who wasn't?

[–] Unstoppable_Flop@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I've considered this theory simply because every story I've read about someone being deported was a trump supporter/married to one. That's probably more my algorithm than facts tho

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago

Most of them are just brown folks trying to survive the cruelties of the global economy.

The ones married to MAGAts, or who get sick or killed are the only ones we have time to write articles about.

It’s very effective.

MAGA might be the very first political movement that genuinely no ideology. They have no values, no positions, no standards, no consistency, no morals, no ethics, nothing. Trump can say one thing and then turn around and say the polar opposite, and they would side with him both times without a hint of self awareness. I'm truly curious to see what happens to them when Trump finally croaks.

I'd love to see what they do if Trump wakes up one day and is suddenly pro-immigration, pro-socialism, and pro-transgender

[–] Gorilladrums@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Stuff like this has already happened before. If it's something that they themselves supported, they would just regurgitate whatever talking points Fox News gives them. If it's something that they don't support but their deemed opposition does then they'll just go something like "when Trump was against [insert something he doesn't like] you were mad, but now that he supports it, you're still mad. Liberals are brainwashed into having TDS". They're a terminal case.

[–] FreshParsnip@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If Trump did a 180 and started doing things I agree with, I wouldn't be mad. I'd be confused

[–] Gorilladrums@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

But that's because you actually have principled beliefs, they don't.

[–] Eternal192@anarchist.nexus 13 points 1 month ago

Psyop to make them look dumb? They didn't have to do anything, they were dumb anyway.

[–] texture@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

conservatives have always looked stupid, bc they are.

[–] nectar45@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago

The most succesful conspiracy in history

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 4 points 1 month ago

And it's working a treat

[–] Malyca@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Look at that tiny house. I swear, they'll hang them off of homeless RVs without a hint of irony.

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago

It's impossible that

  1. A majority of the house is outside of the camera's view
  2. The house is similar in size to the one on the right

I sometimes joke that Trump is actually aiming to save America by demonstrating how broken the system is
