Fuck AI

"We did it, Patrick! We made a technological breakthrough!"

A place for all those who loathe AI to discuss things, post articles, and ridicule the AI hype. Proud supporter of working people. And proud booer of SXSW 2024.

AI, in this case, refers to LLMs, GPT technology, and anything listed as "AI" meant to increase market valuations.

Of course not and I didn't mean to imply it would. Evilness of mega-corporations shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, though.

All the more important to point out how fucked it is.

People tend to handwave it “oh pfft of course they are” but less so when proof is provided

They had their chance for me to be addicted with Cortana and they squandered it

I still truly love that in 2015, Microsoft called their assistant cortana, just as 343 painted her character as the antagonist.

It's almost poetic.

Reminds me of that one article that came out saying that Zuckerberg is "affectionally" referred to as the "Eye of Sauron" in the office, or something like that.

Sauce for what? That it happened then they canned it? It was when Alexa came out and MS was trying to keep up with the jones's.

Sounds pretty par for the course.

So is their (inevitable) tragic failure. XD

I mean I'm betting they'll fail anyway. I don't think anyone has ever been addicted to anything Microsoft has made

Minesweeper and Pinnball is the closest they've gotten
