Language in the initiative claims that kids are already required to undergo verification of their “biological sex” before they can play sports. But KUOW spoke with medical professionals and a school sports official who said otherwise. Paperwork used by medical professionals in sports physicals also shows that the initiative would be a departure from current state requirements for athletic participation.

According to the initiative, students would have several options to confirm their sex: a visual genital exam, a lab test to determine their genetic makeup, or an analysis of testosterone levels in the blood. The genital exam, which a medical professional can conduct without touching the child, would likely be the most accessible option for most kids.

Hey y'all, when I was starting highschool I had a doctor try to inspect my genitals and i had to tell no, they told me I needed a physical before I could play sports, I declined again because I didn't want to do sports anyway.

Can someone tell me if this was normal or if the doc was being weird?

[–] exasperation@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

For boys, the standard hernia test involves checking for testicle movement, usually during coughing. It's highly recommended for sports participation, and required in some places, because a hernia is easily preventable and especially painful.

[–] thespcicifcocean@lemmy.world 3 points 18 hours ago

Doc was being weird.

[–] MrShankles@reddthat.com 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I had to go through that in the 6th grade to play a sport (wrestling), but didn't have the wherewithal to say, "Nah, I'm good. No thanks". But I do remember that poor lady was just as uncomfortable as I was.

As a pre-pubescent, having my testicles tugged down by a kind-looking woman (who was being as professional as humanly possible)... idk, I still remember that, like we both knew it was weird. Ended up quitting anyway, cause wrestling in middle school was definitely awkward. But that physical stuck with me

And the coach getting reprimanded for showering with us after practice... I kinda wish I was joking. Dodged a bullet for sure, but looking back... fuuuuck. That was a thing I knew wasn't right. Sorry, that's an unlocked memory. That lady was gentle and safe with my nads though, so that was cool. Just wish I had a heads up first, christ!

Sooo, yeahh.. idk if that's normal, but it happens. Probably caused a kink or two, but my sack and I passed the physical. Dunno what we were checking without asking (drop your trousers; balls in hand suddenly), but apparently my bojangles were cool? Damn, completely forgot about that though

Moral of the story; it is apparently a thing. Dunno if it's medically weird or not, but it was weird for 6th grade me

[–] JennyLaFae@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 16 hours ago

I think I'm going to use "Weird for me" more often, and thank you.

[–] BeardededSquidward@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

Conservatives are happy to look at children's private parts.

[–] ReHomed@lemmy.cafe 3 points 20 hours ago

And then they turn around and call US the pedophiles

That's some bullshit

[–] Hacksaw@lemmy.ca 37 points 1 day ago

To save women from having "men" theoretically sneaking into bathrooms to see their genitals, we've now mandated that all women must allow "medical professional men" to see their genitals.

..... This is what conservatism does to your brain....

[–] Fedegenerate@fedinsfw.app 17 points 1 day ago

Genital inspection day was supposed to be satire.

[–] auzy1@lemmy.world 3 points 19 hours ago

For a second, I thought you meant Western Australia. And I was wondering why the f that would be happening here.

"I looked at the genitals of 24 middle school girls and didn't find any perverts. You're welcome!"

[–] cows_are_underrated@feddit.org 2 points 18 hours ago

or an analysis of testosterone levels in the blood.

So as soon as a trans Person is in hormines for St least some time, they can still participate. The law is still complete discriminatory bullshit, but it is not a complete exclusion (even tho they would have liked if it would be that way)

[–] spacehulk@lemmy.zip 32 points 1 day ago (3 children)

They are so afraid of a man using a women's bathroom, that they will abuse as many children as possible.

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 4 points 16 hours ago

more like they want to abuse children so much that they pretend to care about women's safety.

[–] ThunderQueen@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

Its almost like the goal was always to be able to abuse children easier. What with the epstein class running things and all that

[–] GutterRat42@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

What strikes me as curious is the fact that they somehow believe that a person would go through psychiatric evaluation, hormonal treatments, and face and genital surgeries just to be able to go into a women's bathroom. Then they'll tell you that it is not that, it is that they are afraid of men using it as a loophole to go into the women's bathroom, and somehow they think the problem isn't men.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 54 points 1 day ago

Uhhhhhhhhhhh

If you are so against transgender folks being transgender that you're cool with a stranger confirming children's gender by taking a peek at their genitals, you are a fucking monster of a human being.

[–] FanciestPants@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

My first impression was that this bill must have been sponsored by Jon Lajoie, but no, he was not interested in kids genitals.

[–] 7rokhym@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 day ago

Pedophiles and rapists control the US, so this is logical next step.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 29 points 1 day ago

a visual genital exam

...no.

[–] CorrectAlias@piefed.blahaj.zone 41 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

This is Brian Heywood absuing the ballot initiative process again. Brian Heywood is a rich fuck who left California for Washington State because he's dumb as fuck and thought WA was further to the right. He moved his entire business here and is now using his wealth to flood the zone with shitty, fucked up, misleading, and pointless ballot initiatives in an attempt to make WA what he originally (and stupidly) thought it was.

Brian Heywood should take his dumbass to Idaho, where they're happy to bend over while he goes to town.

[–] sns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 106 points 1 day ago

Republicans are obsessed with children's genitals.

Go figure.

[–] slickgoat@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago

Sounds like some people just want to look at kid's junk. Sounds very Republican.

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 74 points 1 day ago (2 children)

or an analysis of testosterone levels in the blood

Fun fact: that’s not a sex test because cis girls also produce testosterone, sometimes at heightened levels comparable to some cis boys. That’s just how biology does.

[–] hopesdead@startrek.website 38 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

This is being done by the IOC now. This regulation will force many women athletes whom are known to have high levels of testosterone naturally, to be forced out of women’s events.

EDIT: If you aren’t aware, the IOC announced a ban on transgender women participating in women’s events in April.

[–] charokol@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

But wait, I thought all this was to protect cis women in sports!

[–] DupaCycki@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some cis males also produce little testosterone. Look at Clavicular.

I feel like that jackass has probably rat fucked his biology with the shit he puts in his system so bad example.

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 48 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

an analysis of testosterone levels in the blood

Uh, wouldn’t this make trans girls test as girls and trans boys test as boys?

Like, don’t tell them if so, because it’s absolutely funnier that way.

for girls, it depends on the type of HRT. Some trans-fem HRT lowers the production of testosterone; other HRT blocks the body from using testosterone, and can actually increase T levels as a result (but without the typical symptoms of high testosterone).

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 29 points 1 day ago

That's what the conservatives behind all this anti-queer stuff actually intended: they want to see and fondle kids genitals.

[–] ElcaineVolta@kbin.melroy.org 78 points 2 days ago

total and complete insanity, fucking repulsive.

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 43 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

The WIAA is aware of roughly 10 trans athletes out of more than 200,000 kids who compete across the state, Kesterson said.

20,000:1 RATIO, FUCKING HELL HOW WILL GIRLS SPORTS EVER OVERCOME SUCH A HUGE PROBLEM???? no choice but to MAKE SURE YOU AIN'T SMUGGLING ANY BALLS ONTO THE COURT!

I really cannot see this ever passing, at least. Laurie Jenkins would have Bob shot if this somehow passes the house & senate and he didn't veto, and it'd probably be done with Mike Brown's gun (tho I similarly cannot envision a world in which Ferguson would ever pass this. Guy's pretty decent.)

[–] kent_eh@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

I really cannot see this ever passing

There are a helluva lot of things that "I cannot see happening" that the USA is actively doing right now (and over the last decade or more) .

[–] KelvarCherry@piefed.blahaj.zone 53 points 1 day ago (3 children)

"Sex-testing" children in schools sounds like something you'd find in a niche pervert hentai drooled over by 4chan /pol/ board weirdos; right along with all the other infringements on bodily autonomy we've seen from this regime. We don't live in "Hell". We live in the fantasy of the formerly rightfully-ostracized.

This is literally who you’re allowing to run your country

[–] BranBucket@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

As much as I want to say this isn't true, I really can't.

You're telling me the party that actively wants to destroy women's rights while supporting a pedophile in office would... try to do things that pedophiles and rapists would like? Say it ain't so! /s

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 37 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They call us groomers, but conservatives want to look at little kid's junk before they can play sports. Fucking gross

[–] geekwithsoul@piefed.social 25 points 1 day ago

"but conservatives want to look at little kid's junk ~~before they can play sports~~."

FTFY 🙂

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago

Why do these perverts care so much about children's private parts?

Fucking pedos

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 39 points 2 days ago

The gop are going to sign up in droves to be this "medical professional"

[–] cerebralhawks@lemmy.dbzer0.com 18 points 2 days ago (1 children)

At that point we can just say that, let’s just let the girls and boys play together so the Trump-Epstein coalition doesn’t come in to examine their genitals.

[–] wheezy@lemmy.ml 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

In a non patriarchal society. This would be great. But, unfortunately, we live in a patriarchal society and this would just result in more children being pushed out of sports because of toxic environments.

If you think kids are mean. Wait until you hear all the parents that verbally abuse kids on the field because of their "inferior" gender identity. Or the coaches that form "nonbinary" teams of all cis boys. "Our team sucks because it has too many girls".

I played on a "mixed" summer softball team as a kid in South Georgia. It was literally just for fun and had no "championship". Each game was entirely independent. Half of the already few girls quit after a few games. Little 8 year old girls crying because of shit they heard parents saying or that the other kids repeated.

This shit goes deep into our culture and society. Until that changes doing "all gender" sports is not a good idea in practice.

There are so few trans kids in our population. There are even fewer that want to play sports. The best thing to do now is let kids play on the team they want play on. And never ever ever allow these "genital inspection days".
