Don't forget, this war was very likely initiated by Netanyahu. All they managed to do was make Iran stronger, what a bunch of fucking morons.

[–] SeductiveTortoise@piefed.social 83 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No, that wasn't the only outcome. Iran got richer and the world got to see that the military might of the USA is much less mighty than they want the world to know.

[–] Dhs92@piefed.social 25 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's what happens when you fill the upper ranks with yes-men

Netanyahu is not a moron, making Iran weaker wasn't his goal. Forever war was, to have a foil to play for domestic political purposes.

[–] SkunkWorkz@lemmy.world 39 points 2 months ago

Not to mention Gaza and the West Bank has been out of the news cycle. The colonists have been doing some heinous shit since the war happened.

[–] tyo_ukko@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yep, but his biggest blunder was to trust Trump to help him out all the way. What makes Netanyahu a moron in my books is that now after a few years Iran will be stronger and led by military. It will hurt Israel in the long term.

[–] zqps@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

That's going to depend on whether US support for the Zionist project will be as unconditional as it has been so far.

It's his "keeping himself out of jail" plan. Just like with Thwump. The only way not to go to jail is to stay President.

Unfortunately no, that's not their sole achievement.

Israel has occupied territories in Syria, Lebanon, Palestine and Irak. And will likely annex some areas excusing it with ,,national security interests". In reality the greater aim seem to be ,,greater israel" which covers the whole are promised to them in some obscure book.

They managed to ramp up military/weapons spending in the US and Europe, and massively boosted the price of oil. The idea that Trump lost is naive in my opinion, this was a big cash grab just like Venezuela was and certain people will have profited massively from it.

[–] tyo_ukko@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Trump didn't lose, but the US did.

[–] zqps@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 months ago

That precisely describes his election and everything since.

Man who would have thought that the most incompetent and unqualified demented rapist to ever hold the office would be played like a fucking fiddle.

[–] mgrecca2026@lemmy.zip 17 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

he is the only idiot out of all the surviving US presidents to agree to Netanyahu’s idea of bombing Iran

[–] Astronut@lemmy.zip 51 points 2 months ago (1 children)

America has lost its war with reality! The morons are winning with stupidity.

[–] WhatAmLemmy@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago (1 children)

America has also somehow lost its war with the confederacy and the nazis.

[–] floofloof@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 months ago

However, it is winning its wars against health and a habitable planet.

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 34 points 2 months ago (7 children)

No, we didn't lose.

We surrendered.

And you know what? Sure. That's the right move. We shouldn't have fucking invaded them to begin with.

Fucking Trump. What a goddamn moronic dumbass he is.

[–] GarboDog@lemmy.world 13 points 2 months ago (3 children)

Ok yes but… isn’t surrendering claiming you lost?

[–] GarboDog@lemmy.world 9 points 2 months ago

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 6 points 2 months ago (4 children)

The problem now is that Mr Trump has endowed Iran with a far more useful option than any nuclear device: the effective weaponisation of the Strait of Hormuz. This is a weapon of mass economic destruction of unique power. It was given satisfactory proof of use during the conflict, when not even US armed forces and a naval counter-blockade could prevent an enfeebled Tehran from taking the world economy hostage.

Nukes are defensive, this seems to work for both defence and offence

Americans, especially the Government, all have a collective delusion that the United States place in the world is just the way it was right after WW2 and nothing will ever change it. Over the next decade or so, reality will continue setting in...

Operation Epic Failure. The primary shows was in the southern Lebanon and the West Bank, while the MAGA led fiasco was the side show.

[–] teyrnon@sh.itjust.works 20 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The war isn't over, not by a long shot. Memorandums of understanding on negotiating terms notwithstanding.

Israel will blow it up, and the US and Israel have such maximaist demands Iran will never agree to them. Israel also doesn't care about those demands so much as want continued war and to turn lebanon into gaza for domestic political reasons. I wouldn't expect any new Israeli government to be much better either.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 7 points 2 months ago (2 children)

This should be higher. There's no reason for Israel to stop annexing Lebanon and bulldozing Gaza.

Great, now that that's done... Can we get back to the TRUMP-EPSTEIN FILES (TM) ?

[–] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 13 points 2 months ago

I'm happy with this result. I was rooting against America for the whole conflict.

I am rooting against America in general.

America has a big ego and is subservient to Israel. It needs to be humbled so it can stop flexing its nuts and start taking care of its own people.

I say this as one of those people in America watching America punish transwomen instead of combating food insecurity...

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 months ago (2 children)

The US has been on the losing side of every armed conflict it’s been involved with for the past 80 years.

Its current “leadership” believes that streak is at least twice that.

usa could have won the war but trump had a date with a tween at a very crucial juncture in the negotiations and missed a "war winning" opportunity. /s

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

I’m happy we lost but sad that I will be paying for reparations with my tax dollars.

[–] minorkeys@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago

Not a war. Lol

[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

MoU or not, an unstable region has been rendered even more dangerous by the unforced war of choice launched and America. The world will be coping with its repercussions for months, if not years.

Yeah, the Middle East is inherently unstable and then this totally unrelated foreign meddling happened. ::eyeroll::

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 2 months ago

We got a black eye and we deserved it. Someone should bloody our nose, too, to make sure we got the message. Fucking stupid.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 7 points 2 months ago

No we didn't! Didn't you hear we're going to pay them to put things the way they used to be before the war? And then we are going to negotiate how much each ship should pay to get thru? It's going to be so cheap! Like 800% cheaper! Or 530% or 50% or 1200%! It will be very much more inexpensive than it was before! And then we'll negotiate how much to pay them to not continue making nuklier materials too fast but faster than before. But it will be slow. They can't have a niklier ex-ploding thing because we'll buy it from them! We'll be making 🤑 money! Money! Money! Just gotta pay them first and then we gotta sell product. Everyone will be selling nuklier! Your kid, their kid, and the neighbors, everyone. We'll make money! This kid says to me. He says. Crying. He says. Sir, can I buy nuklier? No! You'll get niklier! Crying. The kid. I says. No! You'll get niklier! In a week or two! Two at most. Maybe even in just a few minutes. Who knows, we'll see. You know what I mean? I don't.
