Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Cool. Then the Ohio Dems can suck an unwashed ass.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago)

Infringing on free politcal speech is one of those few truly bipartisan issues, along with separating kids from their parents, protecting and participating in kid fucking, going after whistleblowers, allowing law enforcement to have no accountability and free reign to do whatever they want, and of course, supporting and sponsoring genocide against anyone israel says is scary or amalek this week.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 6 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Wait what? How would dems ban criticism? Full internet control?

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 1 points 13 hours ago

Sternly written letter?

[–] jpreston2005@lemmy.world 6 points 16 hours ago

Just one more reason why I left Ohio, and why I'll never live there again. Absolute shit hole.

[–] green_goglin@thelemmy.club 7 points 17 hours ago

Streisand effect goes brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

[–] Rivermoonwolf@lemmy.world 21 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Every day I hope the Democrats grow a pair and do better, and every day they not only find the bottom of the pit but proceed to start digging.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

The people digging that hole arent going anywhere. Our tent needs to have some rules, or we need to toss people out when they wont align. "Big tent" hasnt been working. Things like genocide, allowing birth control and womens right to choose, universal human rights, etc arent negotiable and if people dont like that they can get tossed from the tent and lose that D near their name. Right now the "D" means next to nothing.

You'll never get better from neo-liberals. They are essentially mercenaries for change, if you want something to change they have to be paid first or find a way to monetize it so they can make a buck off it.

Seems there's always a line with the holders of conservative values of how far they'll go. Used to be it was black people, then it was gay people, now it's trans people.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 136 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Banning criticism is nazi shit and so is transphobia. Fuck these assholes

[–] BadmanDan@lemmy.world 31 points 1 day ago (2 children)

You’d be surprised how much Ohions prefer this

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

I'm not surprised but I also think most people with these ideas don't actually believe them. They've been fed a line of bullshit about people with differences being their enemies. It should be our job to push back on it.

We should NOT pander to regressive bigoted bullshit for a crumb of power. It doesn't even work! These weak democrats sell out their people and lose the election anyway because they're spineless wimps. They don't stand for shit and that's why they lose. Shame on them.

[–] BadmanDan@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago

I 100% agree. Dems don’t have to do this. Kamala literally gained more white support than Biden, Hillary and Obama 2012. Suburban White voters aren’t fleeing over trans stuff the way the media is trying to portray it.

But they’re winning the messaging battle.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 36 points 1 day ago (1 children)

“We can’t be the party of pronouns!”

Then what, the fuck, are you? Certainly not the party of the working class.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 35 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (8 children)

And why CAN'T we be the party of pronouns? What the fuck is wrong with respecting people's identities and pushing for positive change. I've had enough of this regressive bullshit from these losers.

Barbra Streisand has entered the chat.

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Can the democrats stop worrying about shit like this and actually govern?

[–] Tempus_Fugit@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (5 children)
