Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

Every day I hope the Democrats grow a pair and do better, and every day they not only find the bottom of the pit but proceed to start digging.

Isn't it a bit odd that the responses in this thread all stem from a headline, written to summarize an interpretation, by Amyinthemorning.com...

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 6 points 6 hours ago

It’s Erin.

And there are direct sources for this complaint, showing that the compliance team will try to enforce compliance.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 29 points 15 hours ago

“Banning criticism”???

FFFFffffuuuuuuuuuuuck that.

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 7 points 12 hours ago

Can the democrats stop worrying about shit like this and actually govern?

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 100 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Banning criticism is nazi shit and so is transphobia. Fuck these assholes

[–] BadmanDan@lemmy.world 22 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

You’d be surprised how much Ohions prefer this

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 26 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago) (1 children)

I'm not surprised but I also think most people with these ideas don't actually believe them. They've been fed a line of bullshit about people with differences being their enemies. It should be our job to push back on it.

We should NOT pander to regressive bigoted bullshit for a crumb of power. It doesn't even work! These weak democrats sell out their people and lose the election anyway because they're spineless wimps. They don't stand for shit and that's why they lose. Shame on them.

Have you seen the Enemies Project on Youtube? If not it is something you would probably want to share with people.

yeesh, MAGA needs therapy.
Everything Nancy spoke was misplaced trauma, she wants to inflict on everyone else!

[–] Corvidae@lemmy.world 4 points 18 hours ago

That's what makes logical sense.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 26 points 17 hours ago

Barbra Streisand has entered the chat.

“We can’t be the party of pronouns!”

Then what, the fuck, are you? Certainly not the party of the working class.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 29 points 18 hours ago* (last edited 18 hours ago) (2 children)

And why CAN'T we be the party of pronouns? What the fuck is wrong with respecting people's identities and pushing for positive change. I've had enough of this regressive bullshit from these losers.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.cafe 10 points 18 hours ago (1 children)
[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 19 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Then we eat the donors. I've had enough

[–] Quokka@quokk.au 10 points 14 hours ago

Time to make Donor Kebabs

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world -4 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Because there's a lot more important stuff to worry about than someone's fucking pronouns.

[–] Blibly@lemmy.world 8 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

No. Basic human decency in the face of fascism is incredibly important actually. You will not change my mind. Bye.

[–] tigermountain@lemmy.world 0 points 2 hours ago

One element of properly responding to fascism is by promoting the rights of the individual over the state. Your rights as an individual are completely independent of how you self-identify. Self identity is an internal concept that is by definition self supporting. It doesn't require external validation. Insisting that others also support your self identity is self defeating.

We don't call them the Texas of the Midwest for nothing.

[–] volore@scribe.disroot.org 16 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

We do? I've been calling Ohio "the Florida of the North". Mostly because "Ohio Man" and "Florida Man" may as well be the same person in a different hat, "Texas Man" is his own distinct brand of batshit.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Pennsylvania is given a similar distinction.

[–] volore@scribe.disroot.org 2 points 13 hours ago

hey, I resemble that remark!
