I might have to go vegetarian if this is the future of meat thanks to Trump.

If you can afford to gamble $25 on the advice of an Internet stranger, do this:

  • Buy a 4lb bag of Vital Wheat gluten. (Can be aquired on Anthony's Goods website.)

  • Mix it about 50-50 with water, and just... do stuff with it.

  • Example1: Mix 350 grams of gluten powder with 450 grams of water (Optional 5 grams of MSG) and stir it together until it's a big blob. Pick it up and stretch it in every possible direction and knead the absolute shit out of it. Divide into 7 portions, and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 250°F/120°C for about 2 hours. You now have a 50 grams of protein blob for each day of the week, to be sliced and dovided however you wish throughout the day.

  • Example2: Get a ripping hot skillet and dump in Some™ gluten powder and Approximately® twice as much water and vigorously stir it with, like, a fork or something like that, and dump some cooking oil on it as an afterthought, and dump some spices in it and boil off all the water to make a fake Taco meat mix. If it sticks, take it off the heat and add a splash of water to unstick it, and it's okay to jave juicy taco seitan crumbles. You actually cannot fuck this up.

Enjoy.

Plus, they dropped Callaway Golf after their horrific ad depicting violence against women.

Wait... What?

[–] pressedhams@lemmy.blahaj.zone 220 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

The golf club company ran an ad where a woman went to touch a golf club and her man pushed her down and threatened her for her transgression.

Costco stopped carrying their clubs in response

[–] Earthwormjim91@lemmy.world 55 points 1 day ago (1 children)

To be fair, it wasn't Callaway directly. It was Good Good Golf, a golf youtube channel, that aired the ad. Callaway had a partnership with them to cobrand the golf club, but dropped Good Good immediately after the ad and canceled the branded club.

Callaway still deserves the backlash from associating with them though and apparently someone giving the ok for the ad.

[–] pressedhams@lemmy.blahaj.zone 29 points 1 day ago

Thank you for the added context. It is slightly less worse, but still bad.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 68 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (23 children)

Does the US not have some kind of advertising standards board that you have to get adverts approved before you're allowed to publicly post them?

[–] ianhclark510@lemmy.blahaj.zone 180 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We don’t have standards keeping the ass parasites out of the lettuce, take a second and ponder

[–] huquad@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Thank god it's just lettuce though... Right?

[–] NoForwadSlashS@piefed.social 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Only the salad eaters get the unstoppable diarrea. If you want the flesh eating worms you need to choose the beef.

We generally presume companies will choose not to do that to their own reputations, but apparently that presumption was wrong.

Sadly it is on brand for the US. Really trying to bring back the good ole days where the white man can do whatever with impunity. Keeping women in their place, bare foot and pregnant without means.

Video of the ad.

It's such a gross concept. Wild anyone thought this was a funny, gotta be pretty deep in bro to not see red flags.

[–] Th3D3k0y@lemmy.world 40 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Like what is the point they are trying to make even?

Is the club so fragile that it'll break if touched?

Golfers are seriously superstitious?

Women suck and can't golf?

If anything it would have been a better commercial to do the opposite, hand the club out to literally everyone that's playing and they all hit better.

[–] prettybunnys@piefed.social 1 points 14 hours ago

They claim they were trying to riff on the movie obsession.

"Our golf clubs are so good, it'll make you want to beat a woman." Callaway Golf Clubs

Looked it up, apparently they did an Obsession parody, but no one got the reference so it looked like the CEO of the company just pushed a woman to the ground for trying to touch his golf clubs.

I've seen the ad, I didn't get the reference either. I haven't seen Obsession, but apparently that's what that was in reference to.....

If you have to be told what the reference is, you're probably not doing references right.

Costco runs it's own rigorous food inspection program

Nintendo Seal of Quality

The meat comes from Russia I'd wager . The CIA director travelled on the c17 Globemaster heavy lift aircraft to deliver Fort Knox as payment.

(I'm being conspiracy sarcastic btw)

Costco is the Bernie Sanders of retail.

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago (10 children)

Notice that all the employees there smile and laugh as they work. It’s heartening.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 9 points 1 day ago

Welcome to Costco. We love you.

As much as this is basically an ad, I agree.

Support businesses that don't take any shit because then you know they actually care about providing a service in addition to making money, as opposed to strictly the latter no holds barred.

They also ate the cost of the tariffs instead of raising prices

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 64 points 1 day ago (7 children)

Every time I hear anything about Costco it always seems to be the only US company that's run by someone within an actual brain and who is capable of thinking more than 1 quarter into the future.

Apparently they do exist in Europe but I've never seen them

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

I shill for Costco whenever I can because this has been my experience too. Their employee badges have "member since" on them and there's a LOT of people who have been there for 15+ years. Also 2 dollars gets you a slice of pizza that takes up a whole paper plate.

Just don't eat meat, it's better for everyone that way.

[–] axx@slrpnk.net 14 points 1 day ago (13 children)

This is the ethically and factually correct approach.

Like virtually every other US government body, the corporate capture of the USDA is nearly total, they are little more than a rubber stamp for whatever the meat industry feels is most profitable. It's been a long, long time since the US led in the world in the safety and cleanliness of our food production.

[–] bitwolf@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 day ago (8 children)

I haven't had meat since I heard the laws were relaxed.

Haven't had a hard time at all. Beans, seitan, impossible meat. It's all delicious!

Never going back.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

My daughter started calling Seitan "wheat meat", and that's its name now.

Maga meat is deported immigrants. Sounds crazy, but wasn't long ago they were telling the world Ohioans were "eating the pets."

He's had to have eaten at least one child post rape, right? I mean, that's his modus operandi.

Also, never met a golfer I could tolerate for more than 20 seconds. Mini golf is where the real ones play.
