The real damage is done by those millions who want to 'survive.' The honest men who just want to be left in peace. Those who don’t want their little lives disturbed by anything bigger than themselves. Those with no sides and no causes. Those who won’t take measure of their own strength, for fear of antagonizing their own weakness. Those who don’t like to make waves—or enemies.

  • Sophie Scholl

Sophie Scholl and her little group opposed the Nazis from inside Germany, she was executed 22. February 1943, she was 21 years old

Alternative for Germany trying to use Sophie Scholl on their marketing was wild.

Take note, Switzerland. Neutrality is a cop out.

[–] beejboytyson@lemmy.world 2 points 21 minutes ago

I thought they definitely pro nazi gold...

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 6 points 4 hours ago

Switzerland has a pro-fascist history. They're neutral like visa/MasterCard is neutral.

[–] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 6 points 6 hours ago

Good. Maybe it will get worse.

[–] lugal@sopuli.xyz 19 points 8 hours ago

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.

Apathy feeds the oppressor.

On the one hand, no one should be taking their political opinions from fucking celebrities. On the other hand, being against genocide is a pretty easy one to get right and he still can't manage to do it...

[–] crapwittyname@feddit.uk 3 points 5 hours ago

No one should get their political opinions from celebrities, but so many do.

[–] Doorbook@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Is not about taking celebraties opinion, it fan not wanting to support a genocide supporter

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 9 hours ago

Right, he should be boycotted for this. He took a side.

Ahahaha!

All of the remaining support acts on Ed Sheeran's US tour have quit, after the rapper Macklemore was dropped from the line-up for making pro-Palestinian remarks on stage.

Among them were Finneas, the brother of pop star Billie Eilish, who said in a statement: "Artists must not be silenced when they speak up for the oppressed."

Irish singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe and Danish band Lukas Graham also announced their departure. Irish folk band Beoga, who perform with Sheeran on stage every night, dropped out too.

[–] MrShankles@reddthat.com 6 points 6 hours ago

Exactly what he deserved for being a selfish coward. Hahaha, sucks to suck!

[–] RabbitBBQ@lemmy.world -1 points 4 hours ago

It's fair to be critical of his cameo on Game Of Thrones but this is some crazy misdirected hate.

Let me guess, Zionist control over trending topics is trying to redirect anger that should be focused on those actually doing the genocide, instead of trying to turn this into some ongoing story.

Makes no sense and no one should go to his shows... Just because he's not a very good musician.

[–] Mediocre_Bard_Redeux@lemmy.world 14 points 13 hours ago

I did not foresee Isreal/Palestine unseating Ed Sheeran's popular image, but here we are.

[–] Mantzy81@aussie.zone 23 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

How does one boycott Ed Sheeran when you already skip all his drivel?

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 9 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Through mockery.

I made a reminder at work that Target took down lgbt products, removed "DEI" language out of their policies, and did a racism when I saw the party planner bought some shit from Target for a pizza party. Immediately the dog piling began and she's terrified to bring a target bag here again.

[–] thejoker954@lemmy.world 1 points 31 minutes ago

I want someone good at art to make a picture. One side of the pic would be unicorns and rainbow type shit and the other side would be the idf commiting atrocities. Splitting the image would be Sheeran sitting on a fence saying "I don't want to be political"

I'd get that printed on a shirt and rock it so damn hard.

Bonus points if one of the posts/slats was shoved up his ass and coming out of his mouth.

[–] cujo255@sh.itjust.works 4 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Serious question, what is the alternative for target as Amazon and others are at least as bad?

[–] Balinares@pawb.social 3 points 7 hours ago

I understand Costco, I think it was, consistently made the opposite choices from Target. That's off the top of my mind, though, so do check for yourself.

Sheeran posted this on IG:

I am appalled by the conflict between Israel and Palestine. The suffering and pain caused on both sides is a human tragedy.

But when a side has a 1000:1 kill rate and it's actively trying to remove/cleanse/genocide the other side from its foundation...

Hamas exists because Israel

[–] phx@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago

Yes, Jewish people suffered greatly in the last century. Yes, there people in certain countries/religions who actively want to kill Jews or at least Israelis. Yes, Israel is a majority Jewish state.

But.

No, a past genocide does not give a free pass to execute a new one. No, murdering thousands in collateral to catch the ones who might be dangerous is not acceptable (not to mention the executions etc of obvious non-combatants). No Israel does not speak for all Jewish people nor have justification to excuse their behaviour/crimes as such. Also, yes the Israeli government/leadership is corrupt as fuck, uses war to dodge accountability, and is involved in a lot more terrible acts than "just" the ones in Palestine.

Honestly, when Mossad was blowing up pages and mobiles I thought that was great. It was strategic, effective, and we'll targeted at the actual terrorist leaders/allies rather than causing mass casualties.. they obviously have the capability to be much more surgical in their responses, so mass-bombings etc seem that much more like war/hate crimes. Doing this just creates more hatred, which leads to more terrorists and a continual cycle.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@piefed.social 21 points 13 hours ago

I cannot imagine someone “both sidesing” a brutal fucking genocide. But here we are.

Ed Sheeran is a murder-supporting piece of nazi trash, and he is doing it for money.

[–] decolo@piefed.social 8 points 14 hours ago

Don't forget Bennie Netanyahu's literal suitcases of money he gave them secretly because he needed an excuse to continue the war mobilization
