Latest outburst comes as his push to rebrand the emerging technology increasingly falls flat

Donald Trump on Thursday opened up a new front in his ongoing war against commonly used terms and geographic names by warning that anyone referring to Large Language Models such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Anthropic’s Claude as “Artificial Intelligence” would earn themselves a place on his enemies list.

Writing on Truth Social, he declared that the White House “considers anyone that uses the term, ‘Artificial Intelligence,’ as opposed to the highly accepted new and more accurate term, ‘Super Intelligence,’ THE ENEMY!”

The president’s outburst-cum-veiled threat landed just over a week after he signed an executive order directing executive branch agencies to begin referring to artificial intelligence, which is now embedded across the federal government, as “super intelligence” following a lunch with leaders in the AI industry, including Elon Musk, Sundar Pichai, Dario Amodei and others.

Uh-huh. I don’t see Grok, Anthropic or OpenAI scrambling to change their name.

Stop trying to make super intelligence happen.

It's not going to happen.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 hour ago

It's a computer. It's ones and zeros following a program. It will NEVER have intelligence.

It is technically Artificial Stupidity. There is NO I.Q there.

[–] bigbangdangler@reddthat.com 9 points 1 hour ago

Just wait until he finds out that SI means yes in Spanish.

Of course, the conman is fuming that nobody cares about changing the name of AI because his latest con depends on the value of all the .si domains they purchase in June going up.

Hahahaha that's so stupid, God

If 'super intelligence' is such a "highly accepted" phrase, why is Trump so insecure about some people not using it? The 'gentleman' doth protest too much.

Instead of “artificial intelligence” or “super intelligence", how about “Trump-like intelligence”?

Everyone can read into that whatever implications they want.

Wow this is so good

I Can’t Believe It’s Not Donald^®^

Wonder if he'll be dumb enough to fight Apple as well who calls it AI, using the name Apple Intelligence since iOS 18. It got a lot more Integrated with their latest OS's but I don't see them throwing away the name Apple Intelligence so quickly after putting the name in over a billion devices.

What a lame and deeply insecure loser

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 1 points 28 minutes ago

The opinion of anyone who is impressed by the function or output of a LLM, to the level they believe it is in any way adjacent to intelligence, should be summarily dismissed, and ridiculed should they persist.

They should also be explicitly quarantined from any decision making process that affects anyone not similarly cognitively impaired.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 10 points 1 hour ago

Well, he is right in one thing. Trump and I are enemies.

[–] My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Superficial Intelligence.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 1 points 44 minutes ago

Ah the of purity tests are ramping up over there I see

[–] artyom@piefed.social 14 points 2 hours ago

Oh no, the pedophilic con man called me the enemy...

[–] davidgro@lemmy.world 4 points 1 hour ago

Well, I've been trying to avoid calling those systems "AI" (outside of quotes and such) for years. Because they aren't intelligent. They are LLMs and diffusion models.

I'm still the enemy of course.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

Laugh now. But he's one executive order away from having the power to arrest anyone who uses forbidden language.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 6 points 2 hours ago

Here comes another “executive order”

…which happens to be the White House Staffers internal term for a full diaper

this little bitch really needs to be the center of all attention nowadays

[–] darkdemize@sh.itjust.works 1 points 56 minutes ago

He's always been like this. Always.

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 3 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago) (1 children)

I'll call it SI: Simulated Intelligence

Because it isn't actual intelligence and it sure as hell isn't "super"

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 3 points 24 minutes ago

Sans Intelligence.

[–] Astronut@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 hours ago

How about

A sshole

I n charge!

[–] NekoKoneko@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

I can't tell whether this story emphasizes the "stable" or "genius" parts of Trump more.

Did the chatbot tell his assistant to tell him that? How big was the poster they printed out for him to "read"?
