So how does it work? If it's painful but it doesn't hurt, then it's, by definition, not painful. "It's excruciating but you can't actually even feel it" doesn't really make sense to me. My bullshit-o-meter is not happy with that.

I've heard that orgasms are painful, but the endorphins and oxytocin fix that.
I've never actually looked into the validity of it, but it sounds like BS.
I actually think this might be true. I'm dealing with treatment resistant depression and am on fairly heavy antidepressants. These stop me from feeling much of anything, good or bad. Even orgasms don't really give me any pleasure at all.
When I orgasm, it is actually very painful. I've gone to a urologist and have had scans, etc done, and there's nothing wrong physically with anything down there. Until I saw your post I never really thought about it in this way, but I can definitely see how a lack of endorphins and oxytocin - or really, any feel good chemicals - floating around, how an intense muscle contraction could be quite painful. It's like a sharp pain, probably similar to a quick, extreme flex of muscles that at the same time need to relax to pass things through.
Im guessing it just lacks or surpresses nociceptors
Yeah Brain, what if I WANT to bite off my finger?
fun fact: People love making shit up. Digestion obviously isn't painful
One time, 20 years ago. I read that taking a shit ton of niacin would clear up acne by creating a “niacin flush” that would like, super circulate your skin and make it nice.
It turned me beet red and made me feel like my lungs were sunburned and itchy as fuck. I called the advice nurse and she was like, yeah.. that’s what you signed up for. It will pass in a few hours. Drink lots of water 🤷♀️
But lung insides are nearly an external organ, so that probably doesn’t count.
Plus, coughing is basically reacting to a lung itch.
Sometimes, when I’m sick and have a bad cough, my lungs get itchy on the inside. It’s very frustrating.
it's the microplastics that make brain go itch
